How many of you guys have a blog on your site?

I'm considering entering the world of blogging (not wanting to be limited to detailing) and figured why not start with what I do every day and have a passion for and then see where it grows from there.

For those of you that do, do you feel like it helps your business? Does it help your rankings on Google? Do you get much interaction from customers in your market or elsewhere? How often do you post? How long are each post?

I feel like almost every detailing site that I can find that has a blog has like three or four entries and then then the owner/detailer/writer gave up on the process. Is it worth the time? Thanks!

Hey Jarred,
I have some on my website and have a few that I have not posted because I wanted to finalize some of my writings. My thought is to have posts to make your clients educated. And makes you seem more professional when someone reads through your site. Everyone writes differently but everyone writes how they speak. So it helps connect your clients to you on a different level.

I was thinking of it, but in all honesty, most customers don't care and won't read it. You have to do it for you. Not being pessimistic, but everyone of my customers says make it clean, make it shiny and they don't car how, or the steps I took to get it that way.

Think about getting your brakes done at your service center. Do you really need the mechanic to come out and give you a blow-by-blow, step by step including what products and tools he used? I just want my car to stop when I press the pedal.

What I've learned is my customers don't care and I don't bother telling them what goes into it. I let the car speak for itself.

Blogging is great for SEO if you do it correctly. Use your GA to see what keywords people are finding you with and write about those things. Make sure you're using meta tags and alt text tags for the photos you include on your blogs.
Google tends to reward websites that provide valuable content for readers.

Just what ryance39 said. I just went through my site to fix all my alt text tags for my pictures.

With all the research I've done over the last month on social media marketing, I feel it could be a hugh help in my google ranking. Google's organic search looks for new content. It's all about content and staying fresh, having new relivate content. That and backlinks. Talk about what people would search for when it comes to car detailing and have lots of pictures ready as always. With all the stuff I've learned, I could talk your ear off but I'll stop there.

I've got a bunch of topics writen down on auto detailing that I plan on posting every so often.

I'm hoping once I've got all my ducks in a row, I'm going to hit the local search like a ton of bricks. Well, it won't work quite like that, more like a slow moving snowball but a guy can hope.

I've been wrestling with this blog thing for awhile now and when I went to put it on my site it was a nightmare.
I then started to think about why I was doing it and honestly I only wanted a gallery so that's real easy to put on a site and that's the direction I'm going in now.
