I received this client about a year ago, on another board.

This 1991 BMW is a 850i six speed manual, with a big 12 cylinder under the hood.
It get's a bath about once a month. Back in Feb. I spent about 5 hours cleaning off the Cosmoline on the engine.
I gave it a bath on wensday, and parked it in the garage. I came back on saturday to get it ready for a photo shoot.

Wash
Optimum car wash. For the tires I used the 16"
Deep Reach Wire Wheel Brushes
and a wheel brush.

The Gameplan
This beauty was a single stage paint. The front end was repaint at one point and is clear coated. And I had to be carefull of the trunk, since the detailer before me rubbed too much paint off.:(
I clayed the car, then I used a edge white pad and PB PwS. I think the speed was set at 4. So to save the paint. Then I put Pinnacle Souveran paste wax on, one panel at a time.

Tires
Received Pinnacle black onyx tire gel.

Interior
All the panels received
DP Interior Surface Protectant. The leather received brand z

awesome! i have loved the 8 series ever since the first time I layed eyes on it.

Superb! That's one classic BMW customer you don't want to lose. I trully believe that 8-series is one of the best cars BMW ever created. I think it was the first car, that in 1991 had a two-zone climate control.
12-cylinders+manula transmition!!!:righton:
I hope that car has traction control.

Amazing car and a very fine job you did on detailing it!

Holy expletive! That is a beautiful job you did on such a beautiful car! I can tell the owner's an enthusiast what with the aftermarket exhaust and the ULTRA rare 6 speed manual on that car, I'd bet 80+% had autos. Amazing work!

I love the 850's best 1990's car by far.

What the hell was on the intake manifold?? What the hell is Cosmoline???

Great work on a car to drool for. What did you use to remove the cosmsoline?

Alot of elbow grease:D my arms and shoulder were sore for a day. A few rags, and metal wire brushes. And some kind of solvent, I can not remember the name of it. You had to put it on, and wait a few minutes to try and remove it.

GREAT Job on a Classic! I also like that shot of the previous detailer's work. Too much paint removal will do that and the only fix I know of is a re-paint of the trunk lid. I've seen a silver Bimmer with that on the nose of the hood (very tough to see on a silver car).

Stunning work sir!

Such a classic vehicle and you did a great job. The engine bay looks really good, it really shows the labor you put into it.

Thanks for sharing.

Great job, a friend had an 850ci a couple years ago. Definitley a classic, but what an unreliable car. Was such a money pit, and the V12 itself has some issues. Suprisingly its not that fast, more of an highspeed highway tourer. I presonally love the design, but that car has some $$$ upkeep.

Haha, somewhat true, but I assure you a ride in a well maintained 850 with a 6 spd, exhaust, and software (likely what this car has) would make you think otherwise. BMW detuned the V12 highly from the factory. You can get the torque to 400ish ft/lbs with exhaust/software.

Great work on a beautiful car. What did you use to clean the engine with?

The car looks fantastic! You do some amazing work. You're one of the many I look-up to for setting the standard for my own work!

so THATS what that crap is called .. i had that all up in my engine bay on my old mx6... thank god no one put that on my sti before i got it... i do need to clean it tho.
