bmw frozen paint/ coating info?

Frozen is not the same as a matte film or matte paint. It actually has a semi-gloss sheen.

On subject, I would not coat Frozen paint. If it does not level perfectly, you may be staring at an issue. You can't just polish any trouble areas down on Frozen. Sometimes the best solution is the most simple one. Just do car washes as BMW has suggested and don't take open yourself to litigation.

I disagree. While I'll agree the stripes are a different, on the BMW and other matte vehicles it's a clear coat just like the clear coat on the Harley I posted/coated above, The only different is the amount of flattening or "matte" agent that they add to the clear to get the desired finish. In fact, the bike pictured just beyond the HD was custom painted to have a semi-matte finish.

Keep in mind my father has been painting cars for over 40 years. I've also spoken with Dr. G about coating matte surfaces. While I don't suggest a noob do this himself, an approved installer should have no issues. However, I will agree that if the installer doesn't level things off he could have an issue, but seeing high spots on matte paint is like seeing pink polka-dots on a black wall.

Just my $.02
