Well I finally picked up my cars last Tuesday after not having them since 12 August. I would have gotten this thread together sooner but my furniture arrived last week as well so the family and I have been swamped with organizing the house.

BTW, feels great to drive on the Autobahn again. But the stupid governor ruins all the fun..... Lol

:)

Congrats on the arrival of your toys! Isn't the governor set at 155? The 335 I drive is set at 155...

Thank you!

Yes the sedan is limited to 155. The wagon is limited to 130.

How would you compare the pave of the Autobahn to the typical thoroughfares of the USA? What I find annoying is the need to memorize the location of expansion joints on US freeways. These random jarring dips will lift your drive wheels right off the ground if you're going past around 90mph. What I've been intending to do is program the joints into my Garmin so I can know precisely when to slow down.

Am I correct in assuming the Germans don't have this miserable engineering?

Good to hear you have your cars... I know the exact feeling you had because I had my boat and my Jimmy shipped to Florida from SoCal.

Had to purchase some small, tiny wheels and tires to get the Jimmy onto the car hauler and the moment it was unloaded I swapped on the Boggers and then fired up the 454 and took her for a drive...

Enjoy!

Congrats Mike - a long wait!

How did they survive the trip? Any ocean grime?

The pave is pretty nice in most areas of the Autobahn as its needed in areas with no speedlimits. Right outside the gate is Autobahn 60 which is racetrack smooth. Also no speed limit on most of that Autobahn.

You can more or less be rest assured that when you are in a no speed limit area you can travel as fast as you wish. Also the Autobahn construction is much thicker than our highways. Most of it is at least a foot thick of material. I will get back with a positive answer.

Thanks Mike! You should have drove the Jimmy to Florida from Cali with the boggers on it! lol

Mine had to be loaded on just the rear of the hauler as its to low to fit anywhere else on the trailer.

I took the sedan up to see my salesman located near Ramstein Air Base that sold me both BMW's which is 79 miles from me. Of course it depends on how fast you drive determines when you get there... Anyways he had no idea I was in Germany again and you should have seen the look on his face after not seeing me for 5 years!

Thanks Rob! It sure was!

I will report soon in another thread on LSP durability. The DP Paint coating on the wagon did not disapoint....

Hi Mike...

Glad your vehicles have arrived and are under your "guidance" again!!
Sounds like the rest of the move is going well too.

It's hard to believe it's now been over 13 years since I last enjoyed the Autobahn...
Maybe again someday.

Until then (and limited only by/through the vividness of my imagination):
I will live that roadway vicariously through my forum-friend.

:)

What's your AFSC? Enjoy Spang, been there done that a few times TDY, awesome base. I for one, like the area better than Ramstein. Glad your rides made it...I'm terrified to ever PCS again, I don't have confidence in the carriers these days, haha.

Glad you finally got them over there! Sounds like you're having fun ripping up the Autobahn.

Hi Bob!

Glad they made it as well. Too bad they will sit outside in the weather like regular German owned cars.

I will surely post the autobahn. May have to look into a go pro.

2T3x1. Vehicle Mechanic.

I was at Ramstein from 05-08. Then to Vegas and I just made it back to Germany. Ramstein is like little America now.

I think im going to try and stay here as long as I can then go back to the states and retire. Im tired of moving.

Glad you finally got them over there! Sounds like you're having fun ripping up the Autobahn.

Thanks Eric!!

It is a blast!
