Boiled linting MF...

I have always treated my towels very well. I have had them for 2 years, and I didnt get serious about detailing until about a year ago. I always washed the towels apart from ther laundry, and I always cleaned the lint screen. I do not use mirco restore detergent though. And I washed them in cold water, with extra rinse on.
I didnt post this to criticize cobra towels, it seemed that alot of people were having this problem with other towel manufactures too. The idea of boiling a MF towel was braught up in a early topic, and I wanted to try it out. I suppose that if I used micro-restore this might not have happened. I guess boiling is just an easy way to get your LINTING towel back on track.
Thanks for the information. I wanted to know if you used micro-restore or something. I was wondering if you were using one of those products, would it have prevented the need to boil them.

could the real culprit be the use of "cold" or "cool" water ?? As noted above, maybe this did not provide ample temperature to break down the contaminents in towel and the soap itself, leaving a residue that almost appears to be lint ?? (I dont know either)

I'm not trying to knock the cobra towels either.. But out of at least 7 or 8 different brands of microfiber that all get the same exact wash treatment, my cobras are the only ones linting at the moment.. I always wash them seperate, use warm water, 'free' type laundry soap, and a dash of vinegar in the rinse cycle (which could be the problem I suppose, but like I said, none of the others are), and never machine dry them.

I'm going to boil a couple later and see what happens.

Thanks for the info :D that helped a lot

Truls: I haven't used the towel yet, but I will report back after I do. So far, there were no hard edges or anything. Thanks for the info!

I wash microfibers with All Free Clear. I wash them only with microfibers and dry them with only microfibers. Not one of them has ever started linting, started coming apart of started fading. They also stay plush and soft. Just like new.

All Free Clear has no extra chemicals added to the basic detergent. It is one of the safe detergets. I wash with a Warm/Cold cycle and dry on a low heat setting.

So far, I have never had a problem with my microfibers.

My process is Micro Restore with hot water in the washing machine on delicate. I dry them on low, cleaning that lint trapper before I put em in the dryer, and hang them up to let the rest of the water dry off. I usually dry them for 70 or 90 minutes. No ill effects :).

After all of the good info in this thread I boiled a couple of my MF's. A Cobra Indigo, and a yellow all purpose. I thought that they would have stuff in them. Boiled for 20 min. and nothing released into the water. They have always been washed with Micro-Restore; warm/cold.
Tip however: The blue dye from the Indigo will stain other colors.

Jeepers just checked it out. More colors being added daily. I'm getting a serious MF addiction, I mean collection, like someone else on here. Only used one white w/red trim and may have to pick up a few more colors.

my problem is i have so many products its hard for me to justify another order ..with the exception of some Menz polishes and edge wool pads i would like to have :)
