Bought 600 bucks in new Wolfgang products

Hey all, about to start my new car detail and had a few questions....

First, can I apply the dgps after the uber aio?

Can I use a microfiber bonnet on the machine to remove products?

Do I really need to iron x or can I just do the clay bar?

Car is a black Subaru outback 2016. Minor dealer installed swirls.

Can I use a microfiber bonnet on the machine to remove products? Sure thing, but probably not recommended. With an AIO a polishing pad would be aggressive enough.

Do I really need to iron x or can I just do the clay bar? This is personal preference. The more you want virgin paint to receive your LSP, the more the answer shifts towards "yes".

Welcome to the forum. It seems to me you purchased a ton of product and do not have much of a process set as to how you will be detailing your vehicle.

See above....
 
Use micro fiber towels to remove product, bonnet loads up fast and is not the preferred method of removal of products.

Mwoolf-thanks for your reply. I did go a bit overboard with purchases, but I have experience in car care, and did a ton of research on how to care for my new car. I am more familiar with old school methods, like polish, then glaze then wax on old, one step paints from the 70s and 80s.(i have a 72 mercedes) I want something simpler for my daily driver, and something that stands up to winter conditions. This will be my first time using modern sealants and all in ones.

I definitely messed up and didn't need the microfiber bonnets and lambswool pads then I guess! Oh well. Thanks for your help again.

Plan is to wash, clay, wash again, use the uber all in one, then detail the trim and then detail interior.

When you say I can remove product using a polishing pad, you mean a gold or red foam pad? Again, I have only hand applied before and this is my first machine attempt. I don't want to Mar my brand new car! I guess I should plan on hand removing all product?

Use the search feature and read up.....so much info on this forum. Its not as simple as what color pad to use.

Watch some youtube videos too.
 
Saw that you're old school, you should also check out new synthetic clay bars, like Nanoskin Fine Grade. I've never used normal clay (New to detailing), but based on my research, synthetic will save a lot of time.

I honestly don't plan to ever Iron X my car. It's a daily driver, so I'm not going for show room level quality. As long as the paint is smooth from a clay bar, then I don't see my personal need to use a Iron X like product. Plus, all my friends and family wouldn't be able to appreciate the level of decontamination on the car from using Iron X.

Since I am new to detailing, I got all excited like you and bought a ton of stuff. I tried to apply wax and sealant with a DA. Honestly, it's a pain in the behind to do, using a machine. In the time it takes to set up the DA and all, I find myself wasting time. I honestly apply faster by opening up the can or bottle and using the pad.

Hell, even the first time I used a DA, I said fudge it, and took off the backing plate with the waxing pad on it, and went to town using that as a grip to hand apply the sealant to the car, so much faster.

You need to know that Subaru paint is very soft. I have two 2015 Outbacks and get good correction results using a white pad and either Wolfgang TSR 3.0, or Meguiars Ultimate Compound, or Meguiars D300. My preferred LSP is either Wolgang Fuzion or Deep Gloss Sealant, applied and removed by hand.

Enjoy your new Outback. They are awesome vehicles.

I use microfiber bonnets all the time. They load up the same as as microfiber towels. If you clean as you go they work as good or even better.

Also if you look at Mike Phillips' videos you will see Mike recommends using bonnets to remove products. As he puts it let the machine do the work.

My bad. My response was off-base. I thought you were referencing "using" AIO with a bonnet rather than "removing" AIO with a bonnet.

You can use a bonnet to remove product. Personally I find that wiping off product by hand is faster and more efficient. The hand and arms get a small workout too.
