brake dust and tire cleaning

Only thing I've found that will completely remove sticky messy dressings like Armor All is Tuff Shine's Tire Cleaner, as it is designed just to strip the tire completely of all past dressings. However, only source for me is through the mail. It's not too "nasty" either, more like a spray on soap / cleaner. Until you use it after cleaning tires with a conventional APC type product, its really hard to believe what those other conventional all purpose cleaners leave behind.

I wax my wheels just like the rest of the car. This seems to help keep the brake dust from getting built up and it washes off easily. I have used the Meguire's all wheel cleaner on wheels with good results and no damage.

I got a Daytona wheel brush with my last AG order and really like it. It makes it much easier to reach inside the wheels. On wheels with very little caliper clearance (like BMW, etc) you may have to move the car slightly because the brush doesn't fit between the caliper/dust shield and the wheel. But it does clean really well.

If you want a semi-gloss tire shine, try mixing 50/50 Armor All and water. When it dries, it's leaves a light shine, but no residue to fly off. I also use this on my engines after I clean it. Once dry, it isn't tacky or gooey to attract dirt. It also is very easy to reapply or wash off if needed.

One word of warning, be careful with the chemicals you use to clean wheels if you have painted calipers. Many wheel cleaners and APC (like Simple Green) can damage the paint finish.

For wheels, I have used Collinite 845, and even Meguiars Cleaner Wax. Any wax/sealant will work on wheels that are painted or clearcoated. For tires, I have been pretty satisfied with Meguiars Endurance Spray. Its not a high gloss finish, but it does last with no sling. Although, recently I have tried PERL. So I will see how that lasts compared to Endurance.

When I wash my car, for cleaning my wheels I use a cheap microfiber covered wheel brush thing I got at Wally World with the soap water from the car wash bucket. I figure its best to stay away from chemical based products. This way I can also get a little inside the barrel depending on the wheel.

What is a good product to use on a 13 shelby for protecting rims from brake dust? And also for cleaning tires to keep it that black clean look?

I see armour all has a product for both but is there anything better out there?

Chemical Guys Diablo will clean the wheels, Megs Super Degreaser will clean the tires.

After they are clean GTechniq C5 for the wheels. I have tried a few products for tires and haven't found one I like yet...still more to try.
