Any advice on brake pads? I drive an 08 honda civic si and need to replace the pads... looking for a few features:
1. Improvement over stock pieces
2. Low brake dust
3. Longevity
This is a daily driver and I don't race the car or anything .... thanks in advance!

Get ceramic pads. They are the pads that produce the lowest amount of brake dust and they perform just as good if not better than regular pads. When I change mine on my car I'm going with ceramics.

I use Axxis Deluxe pads for my bimmer, but I'm not sure if they make them for your make and model. Highlights: OEM feel, low dusting, minimal noise (squeal).

IME they can be very squeal prone! I hated them on a SAAB and Hawk beat Green Pads in all aspects.

Hawk Performance d all you are asking for and more!

I have hawk HPS pads on my car, and after 10k miles the only issue I have is that during the winter if I take it through the touchless wash I have no brakes for the first stop. I have no idea why, nothing similar if I am just washing the car in the driveway. Now If I go through the touchless wash, I just ride the brakes for a few blocks and they are fine.

Performance, noise and dust are all good in my book.

hawk hp+ ftw just buy a bottle of sonax full effect and you will be ok :P

Thanks for all of the suggestions. That's why I like this forum. People respond!

I've heard of a lot of people that have had good luck with Hawk HPS Street pads with the stock rotors on the Si. I have a 2007 Si sedan myself and I will be grabbing some Hawk HPS pads as soon as my OEM pads are worn down.

I decided that if I was going to go through the effort to change the pads, I wanted to change the rotars out at the same time.

Ihave always had good luck with Raybestos. On our newer vehicles I am going to try out some EBC rotors and pads to see if they provide better stopping. Check out rockauto.com they are a pretty good parts source.

I use hp+ and they are filthy after about an hour. They are a great pad for the track though =D I'm also probably losing some of my hearing as well. Love hurts =P

Hawk dust a lot tho.

EBC us another good brand but they also dust.

I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE with ceramic brake pads but they are supposed to dust a lot less and meet OEM braking standard. So I would check them out (HAWK, EBC, Akibono etc etc all make ceramic pads).

I like the Akebono ProAct ceramic. You may be able to get them at Tire Rack, certainly at Rock Auto.

i just put ceramic pads and drilled/slotted rotors on and went for a drive to break them in just as the paperwork that came with them recommended. When I got back home there was a lot of dust on my wheels. This is the first ceramics I have had. Is this normal for brand new ceramic pads?
