I just moved out of NYC and got my first car. I am new to the hobby and looking for feedback on what I should get for detailing my car.

Here is what I have so far:

Wolf Gang Auto Bathe 64oz.

I was looking at this kit for Bug and Tar remover:
Bug & Tar Remover Kit, remove bugs and tar, tar cleaner, bug cleaner, windshield bug remover, remove tree sap, remove tar

NuGlass for windshield:
Duragloss Nu-Glass (NG) #755, glass polish, water spot remover

Rain Clear for Rain Repellent:
Glass Science Rain Clear Windshield Repellant Spray, water repellent, glass sealant, glass protectant, RainX

Wheel cleaning Tool:
Daytona Speed Master Wheel Brush, auto detail brush, Wheel Brush, Tire Brush, Detailing Brush, Corvette brush, Mercedes brush, sport wheel brush,

Golden Plush Microfiber Kit:
Gold Plush Microfiber Kit, Microfiber wash mitt, microfiber towels

I also wanted to get an orbital buffer such as the GG or the Meguiars DA. Any ideas as i am a bit nervous since i never used a buffer before.

For interior i got a mothers kit with leather cleaner and conditioner, carpet and upholstery.

What is a good protectant for the interior?
 
Ok lets start with washing:

The main items you will need are two 5 gallon buckets, 2 grit guards, a high quality wash media like a microfiber wash mitts which you have in the gold plush kit. You have the soap if you are set on the auto bathe, though there are many more out there. Foam gun is good I use mine with all my washes along with my 2 bucket wash. You will need some high quality microfiber waffle weave drying towels

There are many tire gels and shines out there one I use is hyper Dressing from Meguiars . I have 1:1 and 4:1 ratio for tires bit cheaper and you get get it in a gallon.

Megs UQW is good if you going to get it might as well buy the gallon D156 is that name 30 bucks can go wrong. You can use it after drying or with drying. I tend to use it with.

Meg ULW is good however there are many other waxes and sealants that will a ling time like Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant 3.0 Black fire Wet Diamond.

That bug and tar remover is a good kit.

For the window stuff I can answer as I haven't used those so someone else can tell you if those are good.

Daytona wheel brush is great. I have the little one and big one. What a bout a wheel well brush as well?

Good MF kit to go with.

I would go with the GG6" polisher and they have good kits for that polisher as well so look into those. Polishing is not hard just take time to get your technique right and thats the most import and factor when machine polishing.

What about any clay kits for the paint. Even though is a new car I always say thing about where the car came from, how it got to the dealer, how long has it sat on the lot at the dealership before you got it? Always a good idea IMO.

I would advise being careful with the Tarminator around plastic trim. I got some over spray on my side-mirror trim and it led to some slight discoloration. On paint, it worked great but I have gone to spraying it on a Sam's Club MF and wiping off the areas close to plastic trim.

There is alot of Plastic Trim around the grill and in the front of my car

Wheel cleaner Iron X is a must. Also get rid of the megs ultimate wax; not high quality stuff in my opinion. If I were you I would put on a paint sealant first my preferred one for noobs is opti-seal and then a layer of paste wax. Depending on how much you want to spend on a jar of wax I can make recommendations.

Are you saying to replace the Wolfgang Uber Wheel cleaner with Iron X. I was leaning towards the Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant after Evan's suggestion. Why paint sealant and then a jar of wax? Just curious as i am new to all of this...

Yes I would replace the wolfgang Uber Wheel cleaner with Iron X Iron Remover, CQuartz IronX, Paint Cleaner, paint decontamination

So when trying to protect a car you want multiple different layers. Building up layers prevents things from getting to the paint and potentially causing damage. Like when a bird poops on your car you want your layers of protection to get used up not to allow it to get to the paint and possibly eat through the clear coat.

With that being said sealants are man made. They are constructed in labs designed to last longer than traditional waxes. Opti-seal Optimum Opti-Seal 8 oz. Free Bonus! New & Improved!
Lasts around 4-6 months while a traditional wax can last from 4-8 weeks depending on conditions. Sealants offer longer lasting protection but are known not to give the depth and wet look that use car freaks love.

So this is where traditional waxes and the concept of layering come into play. What I do is put a layer of sealant down and allow it to cure. This is the time needed for the sealant to harden and bond to the paint normaly 12-24 hours after it has been buffed off. This is not the time you leave the product on the car before whipping off.

After the sealant has cured I then add a layer or two or carnauba paste wax. This gives me more layers of protection and gives that warm deep wet look.

Jars of wax can cost anywhere from $10 all the way to $2k. Let me know a price range and I will let you know my recommendation.

I would say in the $25 to $40 range on the Jars of Wax. Do you just spray the opti-seal on and use a MF towel or would i use the GG orbital? Also how often should i put sealant and wax on my car? Every 4 months on the sealant and 4 weeks on the wax? I plan on trying to wash my car at least once a week.

Here are a few more questions I have:

1. What is a good exterior trim protector?
2. What is a good interior/plastic protector?
3. Is Nu Glass a good option for cleaning the windshield?
4. Whats a good Tire Shine?
5. What would the best car soap be for the foamaster?

For the opti-seal all you do is spray it on (very little) and use a foam applicator to spread it around. You dont even have to buff it off if you do it properly but if you use too much you will have to whip it down with a MF. I would apply a coat every 4 months and the wax. It never hurts to add another layer of wax if you have time but every 4 weeks sounds good and for $40 i would recommend Chemical Guys Pete's 53'-Pearl Signature Paste Wax 8 oz

Make sure you follow the instructions. The stuff can be a pain to remove.
 
What is a good degreaser for the engine and wheel wells?
