bring the shine to the car

Hello
I detailed my car last 4 months .
I notice thet my car is lost the shine thet been after detailing .

I thinking to do this steps :
1. Wash - Citrus Wash and Gloss
2. Clay
3. Black Light + polisher g220 + pad yellow
4. Power Lock
5. Color Lock

What do you say ?
 
After the 2 bucket wash, do the plastic bag test to see if it needs claying. After only 4 months, I think an ultra fine clay would be enough. No sense using too aggressive a clay and cause micromarring.

The yellow pad is usually a pretty coarse pad. maybe you mean the gold pad.

I can't see the car so I can't tell you if polishing is justified. After 4 months, if you have washed it properly, I find it hard to believe that polishing is really needed.
Since it has been 4 months, it is fair to say that your LSP needs redoing though.

You shouldn't polish the car any more than is needed.
I also suggest Iron X after washing, before claying, in case it wasn't done before. It makes a difference.

Might try some Menzerna PF 2500 (especially since it looks like you like Menz anyway), with an Orange pad. That fender looks to be oxidized or maybe overwashed with harsh detergent. The yellow pad with Black Light is much more pad than it is polish.
 
It's a shame to see in today's day and age with CNC equipment holding 0.01mm tolerances easily, the poor matching between the bumper and driver front fender on your car. I would have probably rejected that if I was buying new and told them to get me another, identical car. How that passed quality control is surprising. Meganz, right?
 
To be fair, his car was not cnc'd from one piece of material , there are many tolerances that stack to form that gap, and those individual tolerances are controlled by the process that makes the part the feature is on (plastic, sheetmetal both dont hold tight tolerances) . Different companies have different tolerances too, and this isn't a bmw either.

Are you talking about the fit between the bumper and the fender? The bumper just isn't installed perfectly. It can be adjusted By loosening the bumper bolts and adding shims if necessary.
The color match looks ok to me.

Precisely. Not a BMW. This is typical of a lower priced car. It comes with the territory. If it was an Aston martin, then The car should be refused until fixed.

That's what I'm talking about. I expect it's what Gokite and dfoxengr are too.
It makes the car a little less aerodynamic, a little more difficult to wash, and presents a greater chance of burning through an edge with a buffer.

I agree. It will make the car look crisper and more uniform. It shouldn't cost too much to do. All that has to be done is loosen some bolts a little and move the bumper a little. If that doesn't work, add a shim or two. It isn't a big deal to do. It should take more than an hour or two. If the mechanic is really skilled I'm sure it can be done in 20 minutes.

Yes...i see it. The co-efficient of drag has now been drastically reduced to the levels that were observed during the R&D of the front bumper alignment to curvature of said fender.

It is furthermore noticable that this 1/8" of mis-alignment of front bumber will cause a drastic increase in fuel comsumption, as the factors of aerodynamic effiecieny are now moved to the extreme side of realative acceptable levels.

And as stated above, the washing of the vehicles frontal area now presents a complex and intricate level of planning, orientation, design, and finally execution, of running water with a soap-like substance, over the mis-aligned front bumper.

It is therefore determined that this vehicle must not fall into the hands of an untrained individuial, but rather, to a more experienced and seasoned professional detailer. Only by having a carefully constructed contingency plan, can a full wash and detail be fully impleminted upon this vehicle.

Have you tried using a polish? Like CG V38?

To be honest I would use first the polisher and then the blacklight with a white pad.
 
Sorry for the hijack. Yea that mismatch annoys me. And by the way, i am in the cnc business and BMW nor any other car manufactures their own molds. So regardless the brand, the mold can still be cut to the same specifications and the cost will not be affected. No one notices 0.001", but that is like 0.25"

It does look more like an installation issue.

It's a flexible urethane bumper. You can see how the fender flare line doesn't match up either, in addition to the wheel opening, and since it has the same width as the fender, clearly it's an installation issue.

Well, that's why i said a LITTLE less aero and a LITTLE more difficult to wash. If it was aligned properly, it could be washed as if it was all one panel and one sweeping motion.
With that ridge there, it requires an extra pass along the fender to get it clean.
It also tends to be more awkward to wax as well. With that misalignment, wax will tend to cake a little on the fender edge.
