For those who have the Brinkmann Dual Xenon light, does your hold charge for a couple of days? I received my package last Monday and I charged it for 8-10 hours. I then stored it and tried using it today (7th day) and it has almost no battery life left.

Is this normal? Does it discharge that fast? Do you always have to charge it up a day before a detailing session?

TIA!

I keep mine plugged in the garage, where I do my detailing. Stays charged through an entire day, as long as I keep it plugged in between using. Hope this helps

Mine usually holds when not in use, but, if it has been sitting the charge only last about 20 min. once I start using it. If I use it right after charging it the light stays bright for about 30-45 minutes. I try to not let the light charge past 12 hours steady, and I usually don't charge it until the light starts getting dim. I might try charging it after every use even if the light isn't that dim; not that that would be very often. I wonder how many lights Mike Phillips has gone through and what his charging habits are with the Brinksmanns.?.. Other than the battery life I really like the BMDX. Quite durable as I mine has been knocked around a bit and nothing more than some scratches to silver plastic.:)

Has anyone changed the batteries in the Brinkmann yet?

I have 3 of them and they all hold there charge for 3 months (not used). The only complaint that I have is that the last 2 I got from AG, the charging light will not go out after a 8-12 hr. charge.

Not normal. Battery will hold charge for weeks.

Mine seems to be the same way. I charge it for 8 - 10 hours after use and leave it off the charger and when I go to use it it is normally dead. It is as little as 2 weeks and it is dead. I must charge it before I use it. I assumed this was the way they were. I have only had it for 1.5 months and used it 3 times. Hummmmm. I may have to look into this.

It does work very well after I charge it. Works for about 20 to 30 minutes of off and on use.

I will have to do some research on this before I say anymore as I am not sure if this is the way they are supposed to work or not.

Have a great night,

Thanks for the responses guys! I'm glad to hear that this is not normal behavior because it will be bad if I had to keep on recharging the battery before using it. I've never heard of a flash light or a battery powered light source to lose charge so quickly. What if this is used as an emergency flash light and it doesn't have charge when the electricity goes out?

I haven't even used it at all LOL! I just charged it and checked to make sure it works... I'll try charging it one more time and see how it goes.

I had the same problem. Emailed Brinkman about this. They suggested discharging and recharging a couple of times. Cycling thru. Then did a complete discharge and recharged and it cured the problem. They recommended not keeping it on charge all the time. Must have something to do with the batteries used.

Ahh, will have to try that, thanks.:props:

I had the same problem and gave up on it, even after charging and discharging several times. I wish they would come out with Li-Ion or Li-Polymer battery version.

I purchased the Brinkman Xenon marine version and it craped out just a few months after my purchase. Didn't hold a charge very long and now won't charge.

Thanks to this thread, I called Brinkman headquarters here in Dallas, TX. Luck of the draw, they are just down the street from where I work. Tomorrow I'm going over with my receipt and exchange for a new light.

The guy I talked to said there was a problem with the batteries. If you've had your Brinkman for less than a year, I urge you to call Brinkman in Dallas, TX. I think they'll take care of you. Their phone # is in the manual.

Thanks for the responses guys!!! All of them really helped!

Once again another great product made in China.

I hope your not being sarcastic considering more than half of your belongings are made in china..and if they were they would cost double..

I meant if they were made in America. Americans get paid more and don't necessarily do a better job..especially with these stupid unions going on...I thought this was common knowledge.

So China makes better products than America? Your entitled to your opinion, but I strongly disagree. Union or not, I would still support American made product.n Your not from China by any chance?

No, I'm from America. I support what product I think is best regardless. Quite odd that you have an import car as your avatar..

Let's stay on topic now.
