Brown tires?

I think every tire browns/blooms a little different. I've had good luck with Meguiar's D143 Non-Acid Wheel and Tire cleaner. Get a good tire brush too. It may not get all the browning/blooming out of the tires but it will definitely clean them. D143 is very economical.

Stay away from greasy tire dressings. Three tire dressings that I've had good luck with are. Meguiar's Hyper Dressing, Carpro PERL, and Poorboy's Bold and Bright tire dressing and cleaner in the gel form.

I've used McKee's 37 Tire and Rubber Rejuvenator for quite some time and it performs very well. Two or three applications of a safe product like the McKee's cleaner are better than one application of a stronger product that may cause harm.

Normally I don't take pictures tire cleaning, but here are a few I found from earlier this year.

My goodness chrome wheels! Haven't seen any posted here in forever.

Ahh... the dreaded "tire blooming." I hate this! Tire manufacturers should work to eliminate this very ugly characteristic! In my experience (as some others have mentioned) some tire dressing products seem to exacerbate this. So frustrating! I had the worst luck with the 303 Aerospace product. When it wore off the tire bloom seemed to really accelerate. It may be just how some tire dressings interact with some tires and tire compounds.

Tire Blooming. Good old Bleach White works great. $11 per gallon and call it a day.

Meguiars Hot Rims All Wheel & Tire Cleaner, works for me.

In my experience which is limited, blooming /browning is going to happen period due to tire compounds. That said I must add , since Eldorado explained to me the PROPER way of mixing D143 it's been great. Scrub twice, dress tire done move on. Oh and Paul A is always extremely helpful.

Tire blooming (turns brown) for me was on new Firestone tires.

Showed up about 2 weeks after installed.

APC and stiff brush removed most.

Applied dressing.

One week later blooming back.

Strong degreaser and stiff brush removed.

Tire dressing applied.

One week later brown - time to break out the Tuf Shine Tire Cleaner.

Cleaned and applied dressing 6 weeks and still no brown.

Persistance paid off on new tires.

My old ones had no blooming issues but were 1 year old when I bought the car.

Don't think the products used would make much of a difference as they were all high quality but the Tuf Shine has consistantly given me good results.

Local autoparts store had Bleach White so I grabbed a bottle of that and it has been working fine for the past couple of weeks. I always used it when I had Raised White Letters.

thanks for the tips!

I’ve had browning on tires also, some cars worse than others. I have tried many tire cleaning products some good some not so good. What I tried recently was SuperClean, an all purpose cleaner. Did a very good cleaning on some very brown tires. Can be found at most retailers with an automotive department.

D143 for me as well at 2:1. I tried 3:1 but that was too weak. Usually 1 application/scrubbing is enough. Can you share Eldorado's advice? Curious if there's something I'm missing.

D143 at either 1.5:1 or 2:1 should get it. Either that or super degreaser.

Nothing special... Just normL 2:1
We had a thorough discussion about cleaning tires, that's all.

Browning/ Blooming is an inherent result
of the tires’ manufacturing process: caused
by some of the stuff the manufacturers put
in the tires’ recipe...along with other stuff.

[Stuff such as:
carbon black—(natural) rubber is white].

RE: Brown Tires?
IMHO:
The bigger concern should be when tires no
longer exhibit that characteristic “Browning”.
