Brushed stainless care

Thank you. I am 65 years old, and a "dinosaur". My word is my bond, my handshake is as good as a contract, I don't make promises I don't intend to keep, and believe you measure a person well, a quote is appropriate here "character is what you do when no one is looking". I do not suffer fools lightly, and I believe you are measured by the company you keep. That is why I enjoy this forum so much- I am in the company of other dinosaurs, and your kind expression is further evidence of that. I am honored.

Does anyone know if the brushed metal parts on my 2008 C300 n4matic sport can be replaced with the optional wood package- is it possible to do, can the parts be bought at a reasonable price, or is there another way I can get the wood parts to replace the brushed metal parts? I don't want to cover every possible piece, just what would have come from the factory. Any and all suggestions or ideas are most welcome.

So much to learn, so little time.....

They sell the parts at least for my car but the cost is pretty high. I think the wood grain panels for my console and door panels are over $2G's at Sewell Lexus. Not even close to being worth it imo...

maybe you can look into vinyl or CF wrap (but that's a young man's game i know)

if you can find a younger person with your model of car on a forum, maybe they will be interested in swapping. I know many on the CL forum that are looking to wrap their wood grain in CF and I keep scratching my head as to why?

I like the conservative look of the OEM wood package, but the metal trim on my Sport is very attractive too. I guess I am just trying to find out things about Mercedes parts and accessories for future reference. I am not at all interested in the wood kits that are attached with double side tape- that is too ostentatious, and in my way of thinking, cheapens the car. Besides, when I bought a set for another car in the past, the tape ultimately fails and the wood overlays start coming off the fixture. Yes., it is gen:iagree:erally a titanic waste of money, but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and taste is very subjective.

the ones you can get from the dealers are the real thing, but they also come with dealer prices unfortunately...

I have learned from experience with other high line cars that it's always cheaper to buy a vehicle with the particular equipment you want installed at the factory. I am thinking here that I could pull the panels and replace the metal inserts with the wood ones. Do you know if just the necessary wood parts can be bought? I know of and have dealt with a super Mercedes dealer who offers significant on line discounts on genuine MB parts. If any one is interested, it is Mercedes Benz of Monterey, California. I do not have the web address handy, but they can be found the way I did it- what else but, Google it.

I think your best bet is to join a merc forum and get a concensus on which place is the best to deal with.

For instance, Sewell Lexus offers discounts to club lexus forum members and seems to be the place to order from (their website is the most comprehensive dealer site I've seen), even by those out of state with other dealers to choose from.
