Buffer Question

I have a griots 6 inch polisher now. Im thinking of getting one of the long throw machines. I have never used one of these long throw machines. Is there a big difference in these machines. If it is worth getting one of these machines should i get a 15 or 21mm. Im not a professional just an enthusiast.

I would personally go for a powered rotation Flex 3401. I will warn you however, once you use it, you might be hard pressed to ever go back to your Griot's unit.

AGREE.I personally don't like any of them to much stalling and not enough power.To this day I still don't own one.I have a 3401 and 3 gg6.
 
I went with the 21. People tell you that with such a long throw you can't get close to edges but I don't have a problem. You can put the 5 inch backing plate on the 21 also.

Get a Rupes Mark II..much smoother than your GG6 and corrects faster.
 
If you can, you should find a way to try them out and get a feel for how they all work. Honestly I think all of the newer machines have their pros and cons so which one you should get really comes down to personal preference. I can tell you that out of all the machines I own I reach for the Rupes 15 MK1 most often because it's so smooth and comfortable to use (which really helps when I've got nothing but corrections lined up for several weeks).
 
Get three peices of small paper, and label each one, Griots G21, Rupes21 MKII and Flex 3401, put them in a hat, close your eyes and pull one out and their you go. :props: :buffing:
 
I started with a GG6 equipped with a 5" backing plate and was never unhappy with the performance. However, I purchased a G15 because it is much less tiring to use--very little pressure needed and it is very smooth with almost no vibration--cuts my correction time down considerably and I still get Griots excellent warranty and customer service. The GG6 is now equipped with a 3.5" backing plate for 4" pads which is really great to have ready to go when you need it.

Never used Griots, or Flex only use Rupes machines so I am not going to say one is better then the other but what I can say from my personal experience, you would be extremely happy with a Rupes.

In the end the machine is only one part of the total formula required to correct and polish paint.
