Greetings All:

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I was looking to get some feedback on what would be a good buffer to purchase.

Skill level - Zero
Common Sense - Slightly Better - LoL

Would like to start dabbling. Want something that would remove light surface scratch's and would be idiot proof - hard to cause damage with....

Thanks,

Ray

Orbital. Almost impossible to damage the paint. GG 6 inch or PC 7424XP would be an excellent starting buffer IMO and I'm just a beginner myself.

I just purchased my first a couple weeks ago, the GG6 when Autogeek had a sale. I haven't used it yet, but plan to try in tomorrow sometime.

GG6 was my first polisher and it's great to use when you're starting out!

I would recommend the PC 7424XP to start with and then work your way up. Only because it is near impossible to mess something up with it. Good luck.

Yes the griots is just right for power IMO as well. You can find it pretty cheap if you shop around and then Autogeek will pricematch. Benefit to that being you get to deal with Autogeek who has a deserved reputation for taking care of its customers.

Can't go wrong with the Groit's 6" polisher.
More power than the Porter Cable and corrects as good as the more expensive ones.
It's a buffer that most would never out grow.
Plus you get a lifetime warranty.

Put on a 5" backing plate and you'll see just how easy it will he to learn the machine and how good your results will be.
I've corrected some of the worst finishes with this high powered buffer.

GG6. This tool never disappoints me. It is probably the most capable polisher, at a price that wont break the bank, and a great warranty to boot.

I used a Flex once that belongs to a buddy of mine and have to say I didn't see a big difference in the correction and time difference.
I find the GG6 os better on door panels.

He used my GG6 and afterwards he bought one too.
Now he has two really good machines.

I have a PC7424XP and I have never felt like I needed more power. The Griots does have a lifetime warranty, and they do stand behind their products, but I have heard that AG gets far more returns on the GG than PC.

I beleive the GG is made in China while the PC is made in Mexico if that has any impact on your decision :) (at least my PC was madei in Mexico).

I started out with a PC7424XP, then moved on to the Flex. I loved the PC. The GG has less bouncing though, gotta give it that.

4 reasons I choose the RUPES LHR21ES over Made in China DA's

1) Faster work time

2) Better results

3) Easier to operate

4) Less fatique on your body

This is one of the best (if not the best) choice(s) for a professional or someone who will be polishing cars weekly, but for 1/3 of the price GG6 is the ticket for polishing 1-4 times a year, unless spending ~$500 (buffer + the other backing plate, etc) isn't financially straining.
