What are you guys using that works good for removal of bugs and bug guts? Doesn't matter if it strips wax. This would be on customer cars that I am stripping anyways and doing a full detail on.

Kenotek anti-insect. Bug season just starting here in NJ......its done well for me with the first couple of rounds of mosquitoes

poorboys bug squash. I've also used the stuff from sonax and 1Z Einszett(which I don't see on the site anymore) and the pb bugsquash beats them both hands down.

Thanks guys. Read some reviews on the PBS. Think I'll go that route. Thanks again!

Another Bug Squash user here. Love the stuff.

When doing a bucket wash, I'll also use a bug scrubber sponge. Typically I'll spray all the buggy areas with Bug Squash and let them soak while I'm cleaning the wheels. Then I'll go after the stubborn areas with the bug scrubber as I wash that part of the car.

Mosquitoes LOL, you haven't lived until you've tried to remove 2-3 day old baked on love bugs down here in Do. Florida!

And love bugs will etch paint in a couple days. They are heinous.

They bake on like epoxy resin.

PB Bug Squash does pretty good.

I've heard of the legendary 'love bugs' of Florida.....agreed our mosquitoes are no match for them....but it was someone in Florida who told me about the Kenotek product...that's why I decided to make it part of my arsenal

Being in NH I don't have the problem Florida has with Love Bugs, or those big "Tremors" that they get in Arizona, but I have found a new tool that deserves some credit. The McKee's Road Kill Bug Scrubber

I let it soak in a bucket with some high lubricity car shampoo (Megs Hyper Wash) and it just works amazingly... Dried sap, crud, tar, etc... gone! No marring either.

Nanoskin Happy Bug. Works great!

IME, nothing I've tried even comes close to a wet fabric softener sheet. Some won't use for fear of marring, but if you're doing a correction anyways, why not? 100 sheets for $5, or so.

I like this one way better:

SONAX Insect Sponge

And how does it perform on love bugs up there in Ohio?

This is a prime example of Love Bugs baked onto a car. A pressure washer will barely make a dent in these unless you want to blast your paint with 4000 psi.

Wet dryer sheets were my go to for years until I tired bug squash. The love bugs just started coming out here in south Louisiana, hopefully they won't be too bad this year.

The problem is who wants to do a correction like that after every trip that requires the use of a bug remover? That's crazy. Much easier to buy a proper chemical to soften them and/or a proper sponge and clear coat safe product to remove them. Here's one that I like to and am order another one to have a backup on hand.

Is there anything that won't require wax/sealant be added after cleaning? The original question was someone who is going to do a full detail, I am just wanting to remove the bugs with the least amount of affect on the protective sealant. I use Wolfgang detailer but wondering if this is sufficient. Or should I be adding a coat of sealant on the front bumper every month or so?

I use either Optimum Opti-Seal or Blackfire Crystal Seal on my front clip after nearly ever wash as both the wife and I do frequent long runs in bug country aka dark country roads. I have a my S4 fully clear bra protected from the front wheels forward with Premium Shield Elite Film and IMO it can actually be more difficult to remove bugs from a clear bra. Our van is naked and protected only by products. Product wise, collinite makes removal of bugs from the van a snap too.

I do rinseless washes on them and the above noted sponge is all that's needed. I do pre-soak it on a plastic cup prior to washing my vehicles and the front clip is always the last section I wash.
