I am having trouble with bugs and bug residue.

After doing my wash up and even applying bug cleaners(I've been trying all brands as of late) I still find bugs and residue on the paint, windshields, mirrors., etc.

Is there a certain method or even chemical I should be using to help me? Does warm water make a difference?

Its just driving me nuts finding little deposits everywhere, some of my good customers pay me for good handwashes in-between details and I am spending too much time being obcessive with this new issue, but I guess that is why we do this:)

Thanks guys for any input

Hi, This article may help you. How To Remove Bugs and Tar

Johny.

Having a quality sealant on the paint will help. I have had great results with Poorboys Bug Squash at 1:3 and letting it soak before it dries. Then I have a bug sponge soaking in my wash bucket with soap and I just run the bug sponge over it. I have never had problems with this. Also using a spray wax, or even applying a wipe on walk away sealant such as Blackfire Crystal Seal, Ultima Paint Guard Plus, or Optimum Opti Seal just to the front bumper and mirrors would help lots with the next clean up.

Bug Tar and Remover from Turtle Wax is oddly the BEST bug and tar remover I have ever used. Pair it with a bug scrubber and reapply lsp afterwards!

+1 on Poorboys Bug Squash. If that's not removing everything I would go over it with clay and then reapply your sealant. You could also follow it up with Griots garage bug barricade.
Sometimes it takes me two full rounds to clean off bugs. Ill rinse, spray, scrub rinse, and repeat if necessary.

I have not used the Bug Squash before. Does it remove your sealeant such as 4*UPP or UPGP? Are you routinely reapplying your LSP to bumpers/mirrors after using Bug Squash?

Thanks.

"000" or "0000" steel wool and glass cleaner for the windshield. Bug brick and solvent for the front end. When you follow these steps with clay you won't leave anything behind.

I've still had beading after using bug squash on UPGP, I'm sure it does weaken the longevity of it. I have opti-coat on my cars so I don't worry about it doing any damage to the coating. I haven't tried 4*upp, so I can't say for sure on that.
If I do a maintenance wash for a client, and need to use bug squash I will reapply some protection.

I think I have mentioned this many times on here - but no one takes to it..... we use this method DAILY! Your favorite APC sprayed on and immediatly topped with foaming glass cleaner - "foaming glass cleaner seems to agitate the apc - let sit for 5 secs and wipe off with little effort.... then apply your wax. Works great!

I've never tried that. Any specific glass cleaner? Sounds like it's worth a shot.

I'll give it a shot. Does this just work on glass or the bumper as well? I just want to make sure I understood correctly.

I believe you Anthony...:)...
I've been going the glass-cleaners' route for bugs removal...forever it seems.

Now especially for auto-glass bug removal...
I'll even go you one step further:

-A 50/50 sol./mix of that relatively inexpensive [$.99-$1.29 will get you 2 gallons], (usually) blue windshield-reservoir fluid
(mostly for use during colder weather) is even better than an APC/dedicated glass cleaner.

A lot of folks hit that reservoir's spray-feature button many, many times
over the course of vehicle-ownership...in order, or so it seems, to:
"Clean-off" windshields.

:)

Are you saying we can use APC and foaming glass cleaner on paint for bug removal?

Try washing the bugs off with a wet dryer sheet works every time

My truck was COVERD in bugs. Today I washed it and what I did was I sprayed the area with megs apc agitated the area with a soft brush then rinsed followed by a normal wash. It worked great. Although I'm in the process of a paint correction. If I was only doing a wash I'd definitely wax that area after.
