Business DBA & Logo Copyrights?

Is there any way I can keep my DBA name on lock down for me without having to get my business license under my DBA? I am changing my DBA seems to long.



Anyone knows how expensive and what do i need to do to copyright my logo??? I have no IDEA how to do this I google this a long time ago and was confusing.

I am also looking for a slogan. Any ideas?

I will ask my wife and see. She is a smart person when it comes to things like this...

What "slogans" have you though up so far?

My website is: www.crownkote.com
My company name is CrownKote and my copy written slogan is "Give your car the royal treatment"

I have an LLC so I personally don't know a lot about DBAs
 
Here in Oregon you can go online and register your business with the state. It only costs $50.00 here. I'd check your states process for registering your business name there. That will protect you from others taking that name.

I got a slogan written down somewhere I don't remember at this time. I wrote it last year il post it later.

Something like this I was looking for. A way to register my desire DBA name to prevent others taking it.

Any ideas where to look for the site?

Your state website will have all the info you need. They should also have an online database that you can search against names to see if your name is available to register. If you are still having problems with all of this then I suggest seeking an attorney. If it's your business then why do you want someone else to give you a slogan?

If he is anything like me I asked for a bit of help in coming up with my slogan I actually took several of them to come up with what I have now... So maybe that is the intent here?

Where are you located? Is your intended market exotic cars? What do you offer that sets you apart from the car wash down the street? Do you have business cards, fliers, etc.?
 
A dba registration will not lock in your name nor provide any copyright protection. A dba simply allows you to open a business bank account and get a federal tax identification number.

You will need to incorporate and trademark your name, logos and slogans if you want exclusiveity.

Here in Michigan, a D/B/A is really only good at the County level. You'd need to do a business entity search statewide and form an LLC or other corporate entity to "Lock down" a business name.

I have one LLC, but several businesses with D/B/A's operating under that LLC.
 
Hey Exotic. I just registered for biz license Friday, which as far as I know only registers my name with the city of Virginia Beach, Va. As far as a logo, I think you can register that with the city that you have your license in. As far as state wide you have to file with state level govt as a Co./Inc. /Partnership, or LLC to have your name published with the state (as far as I know, IMHO). Have you looked at any sites like a business printing site/services website, and/or a domain site, or legal services website?; don't want to name the ones I know and be promoting anyone. I believe you can do publishing and registering of business logos/slogans/names. Like Mike says in his thread about starting your own website, and domain sites recommend, you might want to buy up names that you may want to use in the future to expand your business, and keep people from registering domains/names too similar to yours. I haven't looked into the logo thing for my business yet, but, I think if you search for a legal help site and/or copyright/trademark site site you may find what you are looking for. If anything contact your chamber of commerce and the Commissioner of Revenue office at your city hall to verify what you can do through them locally(which may be cheaper and all you need at this point. I am located in the state of Georgia.
I am open to all types of auto.

I offer proper hand car wash, paint corrections, headlights restoration, interior detail, engine detail, and later on window polishing. I haven't come up with my new menu yet. I have to look at the old one and come up with a new upgraded one.

I do have flyers and some business cards left all thought they show my old DBA name which I only register in the county I live in.

I do have my old domain name which I never completed the site but it expires this month I don't plan in renewing instead buy a new one to go with my new business name.

I am going mobile I am not done with my mobile set up yet. Currently working on that.

How about "Pouncing on the grime in your time"? That is the only thing I can come up with right now...
 
Yo Porsche and 08, as far as what I understood from you guys I am thinking now in going the LLC way.

I do know a little about that.

Now 08 you mentioned you have one LLC and several different DBA business operating under it. Does that means for example if I get an LLC called "Carlitos Company" and I have my DBA exotic detail operating under it and let's say a DBA clothing store operating under it. That works?

Here's a slogan I came up with while driving and reading all this.:) "Save money, and give your auto the million dollar look." Kinda long but it kinds of points out why I chose exotic. In order for your car to be exotic doesn't need to be a high end expensive car.



You can drive a G35 for example with a black wet shiny look, polish out chrome rims, a nice glossy shiny tire shine and basically you got a exotic look.
