Hey everybody,

I was just wondering what you all are doing to find new business? I am findin it harder and harder to get new clients. Alot of people are hurting for money. I would apppreciate it for ANY ideas on how to find new clients.

So far i have done the following..

Website- Auto Car RV Detailing Services By Renegade Mobile Detailing Mesa Arizona
Fylers and business cards
Craigslist ads
free advertising sites online
A Frame sign i put out when detailing

I am really having a hard time trying to make some money from the business. Like I said above any and all suggestions are welcome!

What kind of advertising have you guys found sucessfull?

What kind of discounts/deals are you holding?

Thank you all for your help! I love this place!

Not much different than before. Being visible, carry cards, web advertising, etc. No special discounts. Doing great work and above all pray!

just an FYI - the word is separating, not seperating.

Good game plan.........I do just about exactly as you do....I also do a Flyer Blitz, in upscale neighborhoods and certainly carry those business cards and when I see a potential customer I introduce myself, and most importantly I pray too !! "If God be for us,who can be against us"

Amen Wendell!

Well call me crazy, but i had this idea come to me last night. Since being visible is a huge part of getting business, I thought it would be a good idea to detail in areas where tons of people see you...for instance like an Auto stores or huge shopping marts. If you had a tent setup and were able to have shade and electricity on site, you would have tons of people flock you way( they'd be able to not only watch you, but ask questions and that usually that leads to business !!!)

Now I don't mean you've gotta go out everyday and find a huge parking lot and go for. But maybe every once in a while, just spice it up and advertise LIVE! This is coming from a college student so if it sounds weird, you know why lol.

Holy Shiiii $45 for a basic wash? with tip thats like $50 to have a car's exterior washed? you must be filthy rich with those prices. I get a full exterior wash and interior vac/whip down for $20.

Audi, That is a fantastic idea, after being in Sales and Marketing for over 14 years (several company's) my wheels are always spinning (no pun intended there...lol..) thinking of new and creative approach to bring public attention to a product or in my case, my business. The only problem I found with doing a remote detail ( I did it in front of Advanced Auto) was that Advanced Auto wanted me to use only the products that they carry ( no biggie there) except as we all know those chain stores don't always carry the top of the line products that us detailers love and believe in, because when you earn someones trust and business your name will always be associated with that person...meaning, I want to WOW my customers....and with Advanced Auto products I wasn't comfortable with doing that......but, I am sure that Management from those stores vary from location to location....maybe I just got stuck with a prude....but a situation like this....they always want to know "whats in it for me" but, I like your thinking...you are certainly on the right track.......until next time Audi.....take care brother..........hey, how did the speaking presentation go?

You are so right Wendell, i never thought about the "whats in it for me" factor lol. But you are exactly right, they are most likely going to want you to use their products.

As for the presentation, it went great! I've never been so comfortable in front of a crowd lol. Right when I started placing the supplies out for the speech, the hottest girl in class asked me what the polisher was for! ( I was excited lol). I even had my teacher and a few other students ask me about possibly looking at there vehicles sometime and possibly see what I could fix for them. It was a whole lot of fun !

That's exactly what happened to me two summers ago. The regional car/cycle clubs have a three day rally in town and set up shows and demos in the Invesco Field (Broncos) parking lot.

The Saturday morning radio car talk show did a remote and interviewed a local guy who set up his detailing business and scheduled free demos all day. I stopped to watch because of that...and that got me hooked on taking my knowledge and skills to the next level.

That one gig for the vendor led to him now being featured once a month on the talk radio program.

Thanks for all the responses.

I really like the idea of going out to do a job in a big parking lot/ store.

About the $45 dollar washes. Yes, really it is $45 dollars. But pretty our basic wash is very detailed. It does not even compare to your $20 hand wash at your local car wash. The washes are our 2 best selling service (repeat customers).

Thanks again for all the advice, if you have anymore ideas keep it coming!

Quick thought,
How about doing demos/details with local cruise-ins/auto events, swapmeets etc.
You could hire some Hooters gals to help with the demos/details.

Hiring some hooters gals sounds like a excellent idea to me. I will have to look into that

Wash/Vac/Wipedown for $20? Dude, you need to raise your prices... I get business for Wash/Vac/Wipedowns for $40/car & $60/SUV.

That's actually a really good way... I TRY/WANT to detail at places of my clients' businesses/offices. There always people around and most likely your client is telling all his/her friends that she is getting their car done, which in turn gets them outside to see your work. Thus, seeing your good work and you penciling them in the books!! :buffing:

Ohhh yes! If I loved caring for my vehicle and just happened to see a very professional looking setup with someone actually working on a car, I'm going to surely go over and see this magic for myself. Usually once you have a few come your way, everyone else jumps on the wagon and by the time you know it, your the main attraction !

I dont clean cars, but every friday i take both of my cars to the corner to have it hand washed for $20. That includes them preassure cleaning it, hand washing it, drying, dressing the tires, cleaning the glass and doing a full vac/armor all whip down of the interior. There is no way i would be able to afford paying $50 a week to have it cleaned.

yeah, most people can't/dont want to pay that amount. but the fact that im mobile and go to their location, then it's very convenient and therefor can charge top dollar. plus, my work is worth the price

AND i don't use AA

I agree. My details start at $50. Mine as well are very detailed themselves. How can you run a company by only charging $20 for a ext. wash and int. wipe down? Even if it takes you only an hour to complete the job you still have to drive there and back which is more time and money for gas. So that $20 per hour quickly gets knocked down to what? $14 per hour? Nobody can run a business on that kinda money. Sorry to sound so rude but its true. If you do quality work and everyone sticks together and keeps prices close and fair we can all make it out there. Good luck everyone!

Well, I think each of you will hate to hear this one. Here in HELL, (Deep South Texas) there are so many people washing cars starting at $5.00. All of these places/people have no idea how to even wash a freaking car. With such places here, no one wants to pay high charges. I wash cars starting at $20.00. Also, all of these people get their stuff from Auto Magic. I will only buy 2 03 three auto magic stuff myself. Everything else I get is mainly from Auto Geek.

Now, I have almost 900 flyers right here in front of me to pass around the people who live in the country club area and other high end areas just outside the club. Now, here is another big issue I have to face. Since I have brain injury, I'm trying to get monthly disability from Social Security and that is going to take forever to do and fight them. This means I can't do a DBA or Corporation to really get company clients. Heck, if I had a DBA, I would be able to take care of all the police cars, over 50 of them, in the city where I live and other companies are there to follow them. My best friends body shop is also assisting me with additional training on things I have not tried before.

Anyways, I'm getting depressed talking about this since I'm tired of having to deal with S.S. Here is a link to some of the vehicles I've done.
