Hey guys, buying a new truck next week. Im getting a 2012 SR5 Toyota Tundra in white. I been trying to look for a thread that shows me how to know what kind of paint I have (hard vs soft) but can not find it. Before I go further I do have pics, however, they are only phone pics from dealer. Im doing an internet buy and wont see the truck till it is brought to my hometown so I can review it. I do expect some swirls. My plan is to use WG line up since worked well on my Tacoma and still have some product left over. Its been awhile since I have detailed so got the nerves again sadly. I have also seen some new LC pads and wondering what you guys think I should get for a new truck. Im thinking 4 of each kind, the truck is a crewmax. Also looking to purchase the the Ultima Interior Kit (thanks CeeDog). I plan on using the the WG sealant for windows until I tint them. Which brings me to my other question, do I need to remove sealant before tent and what can I put on windows after tint? I plan on driving truck straight home and garaging her until I can spend a couple days detailing her out. I can post pics up but sadly there not the best. thanks guys in advance

Toyota typicaly have soft clearcoats. You should've told them not to wash it and definitely not to polish it

Now on with the :Picture:

Congrats on the new ride! These are really nice trucks but the get the worst gas mileage of any of the full sized trucks out there.

Soft paint for sure. Usually a good AIO will care for them really well. Clay, then AIO, then top with a quality sealant and you will be set.:dblthumb2:

Congrats on the new truck! The first thing I'd do to a Tundra is debadge the emblem on the door, its soooo out place there IMO. White is a nice color if you don't on going nuts with detailing it a lot and/or its a work truck. There's so many sealants out there to use on whites, no real need to use a nuba. Looking forward to seeing the pics once its all cleaned up!

Look for Matt@Autogeek's posts .. he bought a white one last year or so.

Thanks guys
Flash- havent bought it yet. They are bringing it down so I can do last inspection and then I will buy it. Already told them to not touch it.
Buck- I have pics the dealer gave me but nothing that shows paint.
Killer- thanks will look into it

I have a 2012 Tundra Rock Warrior Crew Max in White that I purchased at the end of March. I just finished polishing/coating mine today. I polished with Menzerna PO83, PO85RD, and applied 2 coats of Opti-Coat 2.0. The Toyota white is a single stage paint, no clear coat. Check out some of the threads at Tundra Talk or Tundra Solutions about the whites hazing and dulling out in areas (splotches). I love mine in white, and hope I don't end up with dulling like others have experienced. I bought it based upon an Olds Aurora that I had in Diamond white. The diamond white hid some dust and dirt, Toyota's Super White hides nothing! A car show hopping friend of mine calls it Whitemare!

rmedtr6, thanks for the forums just signed up to tundra talk. I have a 02 tacoma and never had "splotches" thankfully. before Ag was washed every week and waxed every other week. Has the paint changed from then till now, coat wise?

My understanding with Toyota's super white is that it has always been single stage. I believe the 3 toyota non metallics are SS, black, red and white. White apparently is the only one that hazes in spots. I wasn't aware of this when I purchased, and it seemed to buff out just fine, no hazing evident on mine.
