Buying a used car with a "coating". 2 Questions

I'm buying a 2012 Boss 302 that had "Zurich Shield" installed when it was brand new. I can't find much information on it. Can I use an regular sealant/wax on this stuff, or is there something special I should do?

I've never owned a car with decals like this one. Do I wash/clay/polish/wax the decals just like I do the rest of the car?

Sounds like a regular paint sealant from the quick search I did. It is more than likely gone by now.

A good polish or cleaner wax will clean up the surface and you can reapply your favorite form of protection.
 
Isn’t that the “coating” that dealers sells that is nothing more than a sealant? I would just polish and apply your choice of LSP.

The Zurich is just a crappy paint sealant that was most likely gone a month after it was applied.
 
This happens to be a garage queen that I'm buying... only a couple thousand miles. It might actually still have some of the coating on there. But based on the responses, looks like I can ignore.

Any advice on the darn decals?
 
A couple thousand miles at the track versus a couple thousand miles on the street are two very different things. We are talking about a BOSS 302. I have had good results with applying spray sealants or waxes that don't leave a residue over the matte stripes on mustangs of all sorts. It leaves a nice sheen that isn't shiny as a result. Removing the buildup that may occur along the edges after the application is a must do. Even on a 2016 GT-500 with matte black stripes.
 
Nice find buddy, congrats. As others have stated any good sealant that doesn't leave white residue on the decals will be good. Don't clay or polish decals. McKees Matte Finish Cleaner and Protectant is 1 of many good choices for them. When wiping around the decals, try to go parallel to them as much as possible to avoid pushing any product under the edge. If you polish the car, you can tape them off to avoid abrading the surface. Try to just barely overlap the edge so that your polisher gets the paint right up to them.
