Buying a new car, 2022 toyota camry in midnight metallic black. I want to paint correct it myself and then take it to a shop to get it PPFed
Is this doable as an a la carte option typically at detailers? I live in Northern Virginia, any pointers on who to talk to here or what to ask for would help.
If i drive the car slowly from the dealer ship to my house (i detail things in my driveway) then drive slowly, avoiding highways, to the detail shop, can i expect to avoid rock chips at low speeds?
Would i need to prep the car again at the shop before they apply ppf?
After ppf, would i have to wait before ceramic coating it?
I am interested in ceramic coating and curing things at home, and have been looking at home curing lights. Two jump out, infratech models, they are the
INF17-1012, short wave curing lamp with stand, 1,000 watt power, looks like good adjustability.
INF17-1015, short wave curing lamp, 1,650 watt power, bad adjustability looks like.
Any experience on home curing and products is welcome. I don't think I could go over the 1015's power with the electrical at my house, rather not risk it.
Lastly, my friend wants me to detail his car, we did a good wash and it made rock chips show up, a few small ones. The car is only 10 months old, gloss black audi sq5, do you think it is worth it to have the spots repaired by a paint shop before we paint correct? Would it be prohibitively expensive up there with a panel repaint? Can people blend small rock chips well?
thanks for any help
