C.Quartz fabric & LEATHER ongoing Review

Very nice review.

Quick question regarding this product though...

Will it work on seats that are part leather, part suede? Car is a 2013 Charger R/T Road and Track edition. Thanks!

Very interesting product, thanks for the review Swanic. Does anyone know if this stuff works on nubuck, suede or alcantara? It might work perfectly with my seats and some of my trim.

I'm still using this stuff. I touched it up once. It works extremely well. It all I use now on my leather seats.

I found an interesting side effect from F&L - you can't remove it. I went to deep clean my seats to try the new CG Leather Serum, and tried 3 different leather cleaners. None of them would remove F&L. The best I could do is get it "patchy".

I'm pretty sure F&L is a silica based coating, like CQuartz. If you think about it, it makes sense leather cleaners won't remove it. You can't abrade a leather seat to remove a coating like on paint.

I guess I'm F&L for life.

So, I renewed the F&L I guess I'll order more since its on BOGO.

I'll try the CG's stuff over F&L.

I don't see why not, but I can't see what good its going to do. The surface you are treating is a polyurethane colorant topped with a clear version of it. The best you can do is coat it and protect it.

If the leather is old and dried out, a conditioner may temporarily help restore moisture to the leather and make it temporarily more supple.

But it can't figure a safe way to remove the F&L coating from the leather.

One more question........ If applied to cloth seats........ obviously the product would run out much faster right? Because it cannot be spread around like on leather.

So with that in mind do you think one bottle could do a entire sedan?

Sprayed........... do you think that you would have enough?

Thanks.

It would depend on which size bottle and which size car. The 100cc bottle sprays a very fine mist. It should be more than enough to do the interior of one car.

That being said, if your using this on leather just be aware it may be very long lasting. I just ended up topping it off and applying the new CGs Leather Serum on top of it. The combo is great so far.

F&L. Is a coating. Leather cleaners won't remove it for me.

Just stumbled across this thread researching the current BOGO.

Would this product help protect against color transfer?

The car I am purchasing has light colored leather and my last car with light leather had a real problem transferring my jeans color to it.

My seats are black, so I can't speak from experience. However, I can tell you it does leave a visible barrier that is quite durable. It's the only leather stuff I've used where you can actually see the product/protection wearing away on the heavily used area of the seat.

Most other products seem gone to me completely in a few days or so.

Be aware, however, IME F & L is a long term commitment. As, I have found no way to safely completely remove it from the leather 100%. I'm fine with that, as I believe it offers the best protection out there for leather. I just clean the seats and top it off every so often.

I'm sure you could abrade it off some way. But, you would likely damage the leather. Leather cleaners don't seem to remove it 100% for me.

Same here, I've been considering something for my floormats. Would this be a good candidate or should I go with something cheaper for that type of application like 303 Fabric Guard?

Also, what do you think the durability of this is on something like floormats. I can image the driver's side needing a refresh more often.

I do not like this product on fabric. I tried it. You need to use so much it ends up being very expensive. Its a solvent based product, so on leather it spreads very far and requires very little. On fabric, you spray it - and it takes a lot to cover the area.

I use 303 on fabric and like it.

Really no need to spray allot from CQFL on fabrics, just to cover the area , i would suggest as well:
work it in after first spray and spray again after , let dry well.
please check the durability from 303 on fabric, after brushing or washing , i would like to know how long it last after fabric cleaning.

Avi, thanks for your input. Maybe I overused the F & L on fabric? I'm not sure. But, since you did mention it, I have been using 303 Fabric Protectant on my convertible top for years now, and the stuff seems to hold up forever for me.

I clean the top with carwash soap or BMW brand convertible top cleaner and a boars hair brush. Neither seem to affect the 303 over the long haul. I usually top it off every 6 mos or so, but it's still beads water extremely well. I haven't tried F & L on the top, mainly because I've been pleased with the durability and price of 303 FP.

I snapped this quick pic to give you an idea of what F & L looks like. If you look at the pic, you can see F & L doesn't smear or really wear off quickly.

I topped it off a week ago, you can clearly see the line of demarcation where I missed a spot at the seam:

Stuff seems to last like that forever. This is the passenger seat, but It has been sat in since topping off another coat.

I'm going to keep an eye on this 50/50 to see how long it lasts. My guess is it will last 6 mos to a year, as F & L seems to hold up like no other to the daily abrasion of sitting on seats.

It was probably at least 6 mos or so since I applied it to this seat.

Good write up OP, I'm always looking for a new leather product, would using Sonax Leather then applying this be overkill?

This is a coating. It has to be applied to clean leather, with no other products on it prior. I use Leather Masters cleaner, then apply.
