So it's 40 degrees outside and a light drizzle, I have a brand new 2013 WRX that I told the dealership not to detail, and a full saturday on my hands....let's get in the garage and clean it up!

I do not have any before pictures, but rest assured that the dealership did not touch it with their dirty wash mitts! I did an ONR wash (Garry Dean style) with about 12 microfiber towels, to ensure no swirling.

I then clayed the car with some mother's clay that I had left over. I was VERY surprised that the clay was almost spotless when I was done. I then checked for swirls...this being a brand spanking new car that I had ordered from the factory, the paint was in fantastic condition.

I Went ahead and decided to use my Poorboys World Polish with sealant to brighten up the paint as an all-in-one step. So I fired up my brand new GG6 with a 5.5 inch LC white flat pad on speed 5 (Thank you AG for a great sale).

After about 3 section passes on the hood, the pad starts wobbling uncontrollably, and I turned the machine off to see that the metal rod that holds the counterweight onto the machine had snapped in half! I was beyond mad, this being my first time ever using the machine . I have never seen this happen before! A quick call to Griots and I am sending it in to them for a replacement.

After that disappointment, I continued applying the all-in-one with a foam applicator. I removed the sealant and topped w/ liquid soverain, to get this:

I need to get my replacement GG6 so I can properly polish her out and apply my OC 2.0! Cant wait till it warms up a bit more.

Not crazy.....................just taking care of it properly.
Too bad the GG DA died!

I have never seen or heard of that happening, which was weird. I could see the pad spinning the whole time, although I could not hear an audible "snap" over the sound of the machine.

Let me know when you get to the crazy part. :) Congrats on the car, and kudos for weathering the, well, weather to make it happy.

That sucks about your GG6

But Awesome that you will be receiving your new one shortly

Good looking WRX.. post some side shots

I've got a 2013 White Satin Pearl Outback w/ Special appearance package.

There are a few products out there that can really make that Pearl stand out and Pop!

Be sure to post up some pics after you get a chance to Polish and your LSP of choice.

Also I would suggest you pick up some Iron X for your paint. I did mine 3 weeks after ownership and was surprised how much Purple showed up.. Nice feeling to know you removed all Iron Contaminants left behind on your paint

If you expect any of us to call you crazy then WE don't belong here!!

Thanks! Liquid Soverain in my opinion really makes the white paint dripping wet, and the pearl flake really pops! What else would you recommend?

I do have IronX and tried a small test spot, with no red/purple to be seen. I skipped using it on the rest of the car and just clayed. The clay was extremely clean so I was pleasantly surprised.

There will be plenty more posts to come when I actually am able to fully polish it and apply my OC 2.0.

Being able to care for a brand new car's paint from the very beginning of its life is so satisfying because you know exactly what was done to it.

Great stuff man. I don't stop washing my car outside until I see 30's. lol.. at that point, my hose is coming into the garage with me. :) Congrats on the new ride as well!!

That's a shame about your polisher but the good news is they have a lifetime warranty. That said its nice to have a back up polisher or two. Murphy's Law.

Enjoy the new car.

Sucks about the machine but love the car. White subies look awesome

Thanks, the pearl flakes in the paint really pop! It's quite a bit more challenging to see a difference after polishing newer white paint than any other color- I guess I just need better lighting in my garage.

Ha I thought about that and immediately regretted getting rid of my old PC. The new GG6 cant get here soon enough- I feel like I have unfinished business with my car's paint.

To bad about yor machine dieing on you, but by buying it from AutoGeek you know they'll always be there to help you out. It's why they are the only place I buy any detailing supplies or machines from.

And the fact that they have the best forum around helps a little as well!

Love your products! For the price you cannot beat the performance or ease of use!
