Called For Insurance Quote - Can't Cover Me

Huge update everyone should know this! The underwriters called me to day to update me on my coverage we are not cover if you burn through the clear coat under the "faulty workmanship" exclusion. They are looking to find out what policy I need to cover this they think I might need a bond of some kind. I will let everyone know what I find out.
Thanks for keeping us updated...
Very important detailing-insurance information being relayed!!

And a special Thanks! to AGO member Paul Mitchell for his guidance in these matters!

Thanks for the update and your efforts to help us out with this. Insurance is an important issue and these policies are very hard to understand. Getting this information out will help out all of us.

Todd, thanks for checking into this. Looking forward to what you find out. :xyxthumbs:

Thanks Paul for making me look into this further and I will keep everyone informed what I find out. So everyone using a rotary might want to be extra careful now.

If you live in Vegas I can hook u up. I am also an agent for an INS. company.

Jumping in to see what the updates turn out to be. I will be in position to get insurance in the near future.

Might have been mentioned in here already but I called State Farm today and they said as of a month or two ago they don't cover new businesses. In general they were pretty useless in any sort of customer service, I am not sure why we even go through that agent anymore.

*edit* Meant to ask, those offering pickup and drop off, any special insurance for that? I was told the insurance followed the car so as long as the car is insured its fine. I wanted to get a clear answer before I offered that service, have to call around anyway for some more stuff.

I have state farm and they are great never had a problem before my agent is great. I asked the same question when I was there last week and was told yes I'm covered but to make sure she is double checking to make sure. I have a picked up and drop service and a shuttle service in my area.

I have my insurance from Liberty and they are downright amazing. They do not sell through agents but you can call them directly and they will set you up asap.

I do a lot of pick up and drop off, so I have Commercial Un-Owned Auto coverage. This covers even if there is a lapse in my clients coverage. Your client says they have insurance... but how many times have you ever actually checked? This also covers me while driving dealership owned vehicles, etc..

Thanks for verifying, I just wanted to make sure before I started doing something. I thought it was weird, the exact response I got was "sorry but as of September first we no longer cover new businesses, you must be in business for at least two years."

So now I have to find another company.

The problem you're having is mis-communication. Nobody really knows what "paint correction" means except for us detailers. Tell them you are a car wash which involves cleaning, washing, polishing, and waxing. Anytime you're doing specialized work with special names and terms, you need to break it down in comprehensible language for the regular joes that don't know.

I would think it wise to find another term for paint correction. If I was an insurance company I would think that paint correction is something you should not be doing

^^^So glad that I'm not an Insurance Company!!^^^

I enjoy "correcting" some things, sometimes.

^^^:iagree:^^^

IMO...So many ways of getting the "correct-ion" message across...

So I've been spending the last few weeks trying to get things up and running and insurance has been the biggest issue, minus the obvious in trying to drum up business. Don't bother calling any of the big names unless you either currently have business insurance or you've been in business for the last few years.

I've been calling brokers and finally was referred to one that is actually said more than "sorry, can't do it" Unfortunately, I think its going to be pricey.

Hmm, this is interesting. How are we supposed to do business, legitimately, without insurance?

I just called my agent (State Farm) last Friday as well, to check on coverage. They are supposed to get back to me, but I'm not sure what I will do if they say I cannot get covered.

This is exactly what I said, EXACTLY. lol. I called my State Farm agent, we have home and car insurance through them and they said they don't even do it anymore.

Called, nationwide, progressive, state farm and then I decided to stop calling big names. I called some local brokers and was finally referred to this guy. I don't even know if its worth it, I am not pumping out enough cars...yet...if the estimate comes back as high as I think.

I got a 1 million dollar umbrella with StateFarm for $25

Like I said, I called State Farm, we have stuff from them. Conversation went something like this...

"Hi I am interested in getting insurance for my small business."

"how long have you been doing business?"

"A few months"

"Sorry, we stopped doing that, unless you have been in business at least two years."

Who told you to call State Farm, all the insurance company's mention write for homes and cars.

In order to get business insurance you need a commercial insurance broker and yes expect to pay a lot.
