I'm looking for a really really nice drill for home projects AND car projects. So I need a drill that will last through the abuse for some time. As of right now I am eye balling the DeWalt XRP 18V
Seems really nice and I see the maintanece guys at work using only this brand. I asked and they recomened the DeWalt XRP 18V. Just wanting to know what you home/DIY folks are using and why you like it. Feed back please

i have the Makita 18V and i can't say anything bad about it.
the battery last for a long time, and you get an extra battery when you buy it, and it's also budget friendly

i have the dewalt xrp 18v...great drill that has never let me down in the 8 years i have owned it...i will say it has one down side...heavy as hell...but that is something you have to consider for a drill this powerful...sucks when you have to hold it up above for and extended amount of time...

Were did you get it orngez? The cheapest I found it was $277 on sale then what ever shipping is. Lowes wants $299 :-/

i actually got it in an 18v combo pack from home cheapo during a sale...was like 499 for the drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw, 18v powered work light, 2 batteries, charger, and a nifty molded hard case to boot....

Damn they want $299 just for the molded case 2 batt and the drill with handle. But I did just find them on flea bay cheaper then that with the same componants. I may go that route.

I have the same drill (Dewalt) and cannot say enough on how they are built. Got mine off Ebay for like 100.00 less at some Tool Depot company. I did a price search on Google and then started looking to I found a "new" one. They even tossed in another battery.

Dewalt is a very good brand. I don't have that specific model but the one I have seems way better built than the Black & Decker one I had previously. I don't think you can go wrong with Dewalt.

Bosh bar none! You will be sorry if you do not! You can drop that critter from 20 feet if you choose but why would you want to? I have had Royabi, Dewalt, Millwakee, Hitachi,! My Millwakke freaked from a 3 foot drop, my dewalt never accepted batteries proper an did not last as long as Millwakkee. Hitachi is good. Ryobi low end. I screw 10,000 on average screws a year to decking on side. I have PorterCable, Dewalt (cord drill and sander chop saw) Bosh Jig saw, Paslode finish and framing hammer Hitachi drill driver good tool. I am still sorry I did not buy the Bosh!
Bosh hands down the best bar none! I would swear by them !

Black & Decker 18v, I've used it off and on for years. No problems, built two decks with it.

There are a lot of good brands, but I would stick with Dewalt. They simply make some of the best power tools. Battery last very long too. I used Craftsman cordless drill before and battery gets drained very quickly and it's not as powerful as my new Dewalt.

I guess it depends on what you will be using it for? The Bosch can take the most punishment! They Bosh test theirs from a 20 foot drop all others brands are 3 foot drop. Hitachi can not be bet if you want some extra goodie, (ie) light, recip saw etc for the price Milwakkee you can change out brush for your self. I am a bit of a tool junkie! I have remodled a few homes, siding an built decks, an refurbished them. My dewalt 18 volt did not hold up an batter came loose. By an large they are a upscale black an decker. So my recomindations for driver drill are; 18 v plus

Bosh for durabilty an ruggedness weight a negative here though about .2lbs heaveir the others brands in same volt class
Hitachi for price an extra goodies plus eronomic
Millwalkke for actually doing some of your ownservice on tool
DeWalt for most torque

Cordless Drill Buyer Guide

My 2 cents

Yeah I think ebay has the best price as of right now (new). I may just go that route, I don't do a lot of home projects so it's pretty over kill on my part. DeWalt seems to be the most liked. koibybrian thanks for the input and link I'm going to give it a read and see what I get out of it
EDIT:The DeWalt seems to fit my needs over the ones reviewed. Actually the DeWalt is over kill just better.

I have a Hilti. Like the Bosch, they are german designed - the MB of tools - made to last forever and expensive. For the money, the Dewalt is a solid choice. I have other Dewalt power tools and they perform flawlessly.

My dad owns a construction company and all we use is dewallt

Sounds like a deal

eBay: DEWALT 18 VOLT COMBO DRILL RECEP SAW XRP NEW (item 250096364866 end time Mar-25-07 16:11:22 PDT) Im the MAN
I can't wait

You will like it for what you are using it for. Carefull on EBay you get might have to be carfull not to get cought up in the chase. Sometimes it less expensive to buy at store. My Hitachi was aeound $300 for a recip, skill, light an bag. Most carpenters I know use Portercable,Millwakkee, Hitachi,Hilti Bosch,Dewalt depending on job. I think you made a good choice!

He/She had strong feedback and at 100% since 03 I should be good. Normally I don't do high dollar transaction with folks that haven't been there for some time with only a few feedbacks.
