Depending on the compound it shouldn't be any problem. Most compounds will take out 1500 with a foam pad.

Should work, but if you're doing a large area, or a whole car, a foamed wool pad might be easier to work than MF pads on the flex. If it's just a spot fix, you can probably fight thru it.

When the 3401 is equipped with a fiber pad (mf pad, wool pad, etc) and quality compound it will surely pull out 2500 sanding marks without any issue.

I've pulled out more aggressive sanding marks than that without issue. I find wool pads such as the Hybrid wool pads behave much better on the 3401.

You should be good. I just buffed 2000 grit aftermarket paint with m105 and a blue rupes microfiber pad on a PC.

I did 1000 grit on a scrap Honda door over the winter. That paint was a bit softer than what I worked on today.

Took these deep scratches out of this hard Mercedes with the 3401 a flash pad and flat top with ease.

It should work just fine. At least on flat panels that are easy to buff.

Any tool/pad/compound combination that can remove paint will remove sanding marks it's just a matter of how much time you want to invest into the project.

The fastest approach would be a rotary buffer with a wool pad and a compound. Every other approach will work... sooner or later... just the time factory.

What are you working on?

Are you hand sanding or machine sanding?

My guess is hand sanding as I don't know of any company that makes sanding discs in #2500 grit.

:)
