I like the Poorboys Natty blue and red...especially because I can apply in the sun. I'm ready to try some new products though, so I was wondering if the Dodo waxes (or any other recommendations) can be applied in the sun?

I know I should ideally be doing my detailing inside a garage or in the shade, but our current house doesn't have either...so I'm trying to make do with what I have.

Any advice/recommendations would be great!

This site has been AWESOME over the past year as I have gotten into detailing... So THANKS to all you guys!

I don't have a garage either, so most of the time when I apply waxes/sealants to my car it's out in the sun.

Couple tips:

If a wax/sealant instructs you to "let it dry to a haze for 5-10 minutes", figure on cutting that time in half. The sun (and temperature of the panel) will cause the product to dry faster. Work in smaller sections and experiment with your wax/sealant of choice. You'll figure out real quick how long you should let it sit. If you have a difficult time removing it, try misting the panel with a detail spray as this will help to soften the wax/sealant, making it easier to remove.

Dodo Juice waxes are fairly easy to use and when being applied to cool panels out of direct sunlight, they typically take about 10 minutes to haze over. Depending on the temperature outside, the intensity of the sun and how hot the panel is that you're working on, I would say the wax will take 2-3 minutes to haze over, maybe 5 minutes tops.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick and very helpful reply! Glad to ear I'm not the only one stuck detailing in the sun. ;)

I'll give those DJ products a try and will try cutting the times in half. Will report back how they turned out.

Thanks again!
Joe
