Can I cut my 6.5" CCS pads to make'em smaller?

Is it possible to cut my white 6.5" CCS pads and shrink them to around 5.5"? I think their large size has been preventing them from rotating properly on the PC. I also live faraway from anywhere that sells pads and i actually like the 5.5" low profile flat orange pads that came with my CCS kit :)

I wouldn't. Why not just buy 5.5" pads? They are on good sale - 6 5.5" pads + 6 4" pads, all for $25!!!
 
good luck getting them perfectly round though. any divergence from true round will give you very bad vibrations.
 
Just leave them. I use 7.5" pads and they work fine with a PC7424 or UDM. Too many people believe that bigger pads hinder performance but that just isn't true.
 
hmm.. not a good idea i guess.. ill have to wait till christmas till my friends in the states come to visit :(

What do you mean by "rotating properly"?

As Budman said, the 7.5" pads work fine so the 6.5" will too. Maybe you are having another issue? Give us some more info and maybe someone can help.

The only benefit to smaller pads, IMO, is for more aggressive paint correction, or to fit into small places. In any other situation, the larger pads will work just fine.

Link? I know about the 6 orange pads for 14.99, but can't find the other ones. Thanks!
 
in comparison to the orange 5.5s ive got.. they seem to hardly be rotating and only vibrating.. i tried leaving the weight of the machine to do the work, but it still seemed to slow it down.. perhaps i havent primed my pad with polish properly? Using 106FF by the way
 
There are several factors that could prevent the pad from spinning. The most common is not keeping the pad flat on the panel. Another could be the weight of the pads could be too much (Edge pads). Or it could be the polish. Some will argue that the spinning has no effect on the correcting abilities of the PC.
