Can I simply do a "touchless" wash with an Opti-coated car?

So what is the mainstream method? I also have a gallon of ONR that I could employ if that works better.

Based on all the threads I do not think there really is a wrong way to your technique. I think all of the people on this thread agree on 1 thing. A pressure washer CAN NOT get rid of caked on dirt. There will be a film of dirt left or still have dirt on the car if it is real dirty no matter how hard you try to remove dirt from a pressure washer.

Whether you use a foam gun or not is a matter of preference. It appears we all agree that your car will need to be washed by the OLD FASHION method....LOL. I believe a wash mitt, mf towel, foam gun or no foam gun, 1-bucket or 2-bucket, etc. or whatever technique requires you to physically wash the car and just not rely on water pressure from a pressure washer.

BTW, thank you Tuscaroa Dave regarding my earlier comments. Either way I really enjoy this website and this particular thread because of all the comments and opinions just want to make us better at our technique of being better detailers. Whether we agree or not, we all gain valuable information.

What is lsp? loose surface particles? So you are saying all the foam claims such as CG Honey Dew's claim about loosening and encapsulating dirt particles is totally bogus?

Yes, I've moved on from thinking I can do it with a power washer only, and have decided to still use my wash mitts and 2-bucket method with grit guard. What I am working on now is figuring out what to do before i get to that point:

1.)Just an old fashioned rinse down with a hose.
2.) Pre-soak with CG Honey Dew using a foam gun
3.) Pre-soak with Honey Dew using a foam cannon & pw.
4.) Pre-soak with either foam gun or cannon with another product other then Honey Dew.

In terms of drying I will using the flooding method followed by an electric leaf blower.

Ultimately I just want to clean the car without introducing any scratches/swirls the easiest way possible, but without sacrificing anything.

Last step product such as a wax or sealant.
Honestly, yes, if it's using a foam gym or cannon.

Which is what the product is specifically designed for. I'm not saying you are the other guy are wrong, I just don't see how this foaming soap wouldn't loosen dirt and lubricate the surface.

You're wanting to do a touchless wash. What do you need lubrication for?

I have recently begun to agree with the lsp comment. It really doesn't work. I guess it would work if you ran IPA through it. Ha.

But I do notice bugs and bird crap coming off easier than with just water.

Waste of time? Probably. Depends on how much time you have. I prefer the pressure washer anyway, so generally I:

Rinse,

Foam,

Fill buckets while it dwells,

Wash w/ buckets,

Rinse,

Dry.

Sometimes I skip the buckets and just use the foam cannon as my suds bucket. I enjoy the foam cannon though for some reason. Also my only two repeat customers ( neighbors) approached me because of the foam cannon.

I don't understand why anyone would think using a foam gun or cannon with snow foam would strip a wax off the car. The foams like Honey Dew are specifically stated to be safe in that they won't strip waxes and sealants.
 
Maxi suds is supposed to be safe, but it sure seems to kill meguiars ultimate wax pretty quick compared to just 2 bucket and any other soap.

+1 I pretty much get away with this procedure during my winter months in Florida. I foam and rinse usually a couple times a week and hand wash very seldom.

They gave the proper answer long ago in this thread. I don't think they are being ego nazi's as you put it they just don't believe you are doing your due diligence. The answer is for a car that was recently washed with a mitt it may work. It will remove some stuff but will definitely leave behind road film I have a foam cannon and pressure washer and have tried this. If you want a nice shiny surface follow this:
Foam
Dwell
Fill bucket with water and two grit guards
Rinse
Foam one panel
Hit it with mitt of your choice
Rinse and repeat
Dry

I hope I did not offend you. If I did I do apologize. I enjoy these types of threads for feedback and we all can gain knowledge from them good or bad.

The biggest thing that I noticed is that you avatar is a Stang Like mine...Black!! I can't tell if it is a GT or not... but I try to take care of my woman as much as possible (my 2013 Black GT). Since you obviously have incredible taste in great cars (Black Stang)....I just wanted to make sure you are taking care of your woman as well as me.....LOL
