Can I use this as clay lube?

I have D155 and have used it as a clay lube. As for cheaper, you can clay with car shampoo also; wash the car normally, rinse, and use a clean bucket of shampoo as the lube. Slather it on, and clay away.

ONR and UWW can be used as well. Cheap and doubles as your wash, QD and clay lube.

The main concern with using products that are not suggested by the manufacturer for use as a clay lube is level if lubrication.

- Not enough leads to ineffective contaminant removal and increased marring

- Too much lubrication causes the clay to skim over the surface and does not allow for effective contaminant removal.

For example:

Mike Stoops at Meguiar's does not suggest their new Meguiar's Ultimate Detailer as a clay lube, because it is too slick. Instead, they suggest the older quick detailer formula in the red bottle.

I've been using rinseless wash as clay lube for quite some time now, no issues! Its all about gettinng the most out of a product and with rinseless wash solution its 3 things, car wash, clay lube and quick detailer. This is why rinseless wash is the one must have in any detailers collection. I'm sure you could use it as a cleaner for vinyl in your interior too!

That works fine if you want to spend a lot of money on clay lube. I would recommend ONR or UWW+ instead, considering they have many more uses and you get a lot more for your money.

I have a 32oz spray bottle, so if I mix 1/2 oz of onr in the bottle that would serve as a good clay lube? Or do I need to mix a full gallon then pour some into a spray bottle?

Optimum suggests:

Add 2 ounces of No Rinse Wash & Shine to a gallon of water to make a super-slick clay bar lubricant. Wet the surface of your vehicle to provide a slippery protective layer beneath Opti-clay. After you’ve clayed each section, simply wipe it dry. This solution is as effective as any clay lubricant you can buy!

Since you are mixing 32oz at a time:

Pour 32oz of distilled water into your sprayer and add 1/2oz of ONR

Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine: clay lubricant, optimum rinseless wash, no rinse car wash, optimum detailing products

:iagree:

I bought ONRWash/Wax by mistake (speed shopping and not double checking) but love how it works, really keeps the paint popping between full on cleanings. .
After one of my first few washes I remembered that I could also use as QD and clay lube. I left my bucket of wash to sit for a little while (make sure any dirt I might have transferred to the bucket settled) then I slowly poured off the top 1/2 of the bucket into a fresh spray bottle. I then did quick calculation on the extra ONR I needed to get to the proper lube dilution and I was home free. It kicks butt as a clay lube.
