Can you ID this snake?

Rat Snake or brown watersnake, both are non - poisonous and prey on rodents and are restrictors.

What is that, some sort of NASCAR snake? I'm only familiar with constrictors.

If you want to get close enough to a coral snake to say "Let's see. Red on yellow....." be my guest. Just remember a coral snake always has a black nose.

So if you see a red, yellow and black snake with a black nose it is a coral snake.

Just from doing a bit of digging, I'm going to guess it's a prairie king snake.

My vote is that it is not a rat snake because the head is too narrow. I don't think it is a water snake because they run when confronted and don't pose for photographs. I'm going to go with the suggestion of prairie king or or miscellaneous brown grass snake.

Only in the big yards, smaller acreages they are wide open.

Yeah, that was pretty stupid, I was quoting a website on them word for word and never even caught that. Guess I should have been paying closer attention.

Mike, please tell the gang again how that Coral snake was dispatched. I got a chuckle out of it.

It was dispatched by two girls, first a standard kitchen butcher knife was thrown hitting it and then it was whacked with a P90X Pull-up Bar.

I lifted the trash can in the backyard last weekend while wife was standing there, saw a black racer (snake) take off straight across her foot. Funniest sight ever !
