YOUR RIGHT...... ONLY LAYER FOR COVERAGE........2 COATS SHOULD BE ENOUGH....

holy crap! i did not know this! mineral spirits??? wow, i should have caught that, and so much for layering SSII...

it has been offered many times that the solvents in carnauba wax might effect a previous layer. While spit-shinning may or may-not work, I would consider 1 coat or 2 for even coverage at most.

is this incredibly awesome wax taking off my DGPS and glaze under it when i apply?

:p :D LOL! "incredibly awesome wax"

I think they use mineral spirits to break down the carnauba so it can be made in to a paste.

I would only think a wax with abrasives (cleaner wax) take away previous layers of anything. Can someone clear this out for us please? :)

Ok, so i got the scoop. Apparently, carnauba on its own is very hard. The mineral spirits used in Pinnacle's waxes are all natural, not the synthetic version used for cleaning. The purpose for the natural mineral spirits in the Souveran and the SSII is to keep it soft until it reacts with air. Once introduced to the air when it is on your car, the mineral spirits basically evaporate since there is so little present.

phew! i was genuinely upset when i first read this, forcing me to get the real scoop. good topic guys!

Thanks for clearing this up.............:)

Since Carnauba is really hard, I would guess the solvents from a freshly applied carnauba wax can't mess with the previous layer of cured carnauba. Can that be true?
