That's factory by the way.
The previous engine (the 5.4 DOHC V8) had a delicious exhaust and induction note. The move to the Coyote based 5.0 "Miami" with the supercharger removed some of that. The fix was a bi-modal exhaust system and the large open pod filter induction system. Some found it too tinny, but I love that its got a character of its own.

Cancoat is starting to show major signs of wearing off after 3 months on the horizontal panels of my test vehicle which lives outdoors. The vertical panels are still beading ok but the diminished lack of beading and noticeable loss of ease of cleaning ability and slickness on the horizontal panels is enough to kill the buzz. Especially considering it’s only been 3 months.
Based on this thread it seems like Mohs is the next step up? Is Mohs something that can be applied outdoors the same way you apply Cancoat? What are the major differences as far as the application process? And what’s the deal with 2 layers?
I’m looking for something that’s durable and doesn’t require toppers to maintain it’s characteristics as my main interest is using it on customers vehicles.

What about Megs HPC? There are some outstanding comments on this site about it, and it's very cheap to buy at places like Ollie's. Would Megs be a reasonable choice of product?
I have the megs on a 24/7 outdoor daily going on 9 months. Still beads water like day 1 and I've been lazy with regular washes. Twice I've topped it with the megs ceramic spray (the spray on rinse off stuff). Not sure how much that's helping but its zero extra effort. I'm sold on this stuff b/c its so easy.
I read about people having to polish off high spots and its not something I care to fiddle with in the TX humidity / heat. If my fears are unfounded I'll happily try something else if the results are better for the effort. Can coat evo would be interesting to compare since they're both in that 1 year range.

Have you tried a decontamination wash? I had CanCoat EVO showing a reduction in water beading at about 4 months, mainly on the lower panels. I did a presoak with Carpro Lift, rinsed and then washed with Reset. This revived it quite noticeably, more than I expected to be honest. I then topped it with KCx S0.02.

I hadn’t even considered doing that, but given the heavier than average fallout that occurs here I wouldn’t be surprised if the paint is contaminated at this point. Especially with the hood & roof showing lackluster beading. The rear door of the CUV has visible contaminants in the form of little blackhead looking specs that look like typical iron particles, even though I’ve never really seen an iron remover get rid of them on its own. [usually requires the claybar to remove those specs] It could also be due to the vehicles exhaust, but they look like iron particles. The sides of the vehicle are still beading.
I’m going to give it a try. Here’s what I have in mind.
-Quick waterless wash on the hood for starters using N-914
-Do a baggie test just to see what it feels like
-Iron remover on the clean dry paint
-After 5min. go straight into bucket wash without rinsing the iron remover using Megs Hyper Wash, which is the only soap I’ve used so far.
That should suffice for a decon wash? If the results are inconclusive I’ll test on the roof, but honestly I’d kinda prefer to not have to wash the roof because then the whole vehicle will get wet and I just washed it 2 days ago. But if things go well I’ll have to wash it anyways. Lol.
I’m excited to give that a try. Thanks for the reply. I’ll update shortly.

Ok, it worked.
There was a moderate amount of iron contaminants on the hood & roof. The hood regained most of its beading. The baggie test mostly passed, with only a tiny amount of contaminants I could feel.
I split the roof into 4 sections: The 2 sections where I applied iron decon over a clean dry panel regained beading better even though 1 of the sections didn’t get agitated only rinsed off.
The 2 sections that I applied iron decon after just a rinse off with the hose regained slightly less beading regardless of whether I agitated or only rinsed off the iron decon.
Conclusion: If Cancoat needs a decon wash every 3 months because it becomes “clogged” with a fair amount of iron particles, then what is it really protecting from? A good sealant re applied every 3-4 months could do that minus the iron particles sticking to the paint.
Maybe it’s my fault for not washing it more frequently?
The slickness provided by Cancoat is nice while it’s strong. That’s a major plus. But this likely decon wash @3 months is a turnoff when dealing this to customers. You can’t sell them on 1yr. claims, even 6 months would be ok, but 3 months is somewhat of an issue. 3 months is nothing.
Mohs or Pure? Or what’s a good step up? I know this has probably been discussed alot but feel free to chime in.

Do you do 1 or 2 layers of Mohs?
And if 2 layers, is the 2nd layer done immediately after finishing the last panel? Or?
Is the applicator that comes with Mohs really good? Or do most people prefer a different 1 than what comes in the box?

1 application is all you need. Personally i dont use the applicators it comes with, i use autofiber coating savers. But the one in the kit will do.

Keeping coatings or lite-coatings free from dirt/contaminants really do have an affect on its performance. I know that in many situations washing frequently isn't always possible because of life but allowing too long of a period in-between washes can result in this "clogging" from contaminants. Especially when the environment of said vehicle has higher exposure which can be a number of different scenarios.
Last summer, when I applied Megs HPC to my truck, I stuck to a strict maintenance schedule of washing it every 10 days on the money. Did this for like 3-4 months straight. Up until the end, just before it got too cold to wash it by hand, the beading was still nearly like day one with no perceivable drop off in water behavior. My truck is parked in my driveway 24-7, near trees.
Now, in contrast, I applied HPC to my neighbors Avalon a month or so before I did my truck. They never wash their cars by hand. They just run it through a touchless car wash maybe once a month, if that. When I did a hand wash like 4 months later, the beading was mostly all gone. Slow sheeting near the top and dead flat on pretty much all horizontal areas. I applied iron decon to the lower half and it did absolutely nothing.
I think this was good evidence to show that a consistent proper maintenance plan really does work. Even if it means running it through a touchless car wash once a week (not once a month, lol).
