Cancoat evo bad experience or not?

One variable most haven’t mention is your applying it on top of another coating. I felt OG CC was kinda sticky when applying on Cquartz.

I switch to using an AF Saver applicator from a MF towel and applied it with an eye dropper. Did a full panel and then removed. Worked well.

Didnt think about that and it is very true. My previous experience was applying gliss on top of car pro lite . However gliss is a very slick coating and easy to removd

Interesting theory

Gliss was manufacturered to be a topper that you could use as a stand alone if you wanted. Give the applicator a try and see what you think.

Come fall, can I add another layer on top of the existing Can Coat layer I applied in March?

At 6 months, it wouldn't hurt.

I think ScottHD said Cancoat starts losing some of its water behavior at 6 months. I'd have to go back and watch his 5,6,7 month videos to see for sure.

Thank you. Sorry didn't mean to dislike the post. By accident lol.

Go for it. You don’t need to. Especially since you are using Ech2o which will protect it to a degree as it’s altering the surface tension for a few days.

I believe that was the OG version for long term and not Evo. The Evo version is a new formulation has no long term testing from anyone. But at 7 months it is still good.

Yes, thank you, you are correct.

His new Ceramic Spray Coating test is at 3 month mark so far and Cancoat Evo still looks at 100%.

I watched a bunch of the videos about application and decided the best thing for me was spraying from the bottle onto a microfiber brick applicator, it worked perfect ….I sprayed very close to the applicator , like a half an inch or so…wipe on, wait 2-3 min the buff off, 1 panel at a time.

may have to try this method. I still have a the full bottle on my shelf. I m thinking of applying it on my suv.

Hopefully it works this time lol

Uh, are you sure? CanCoat is supposed to be a wipe-on/wipe-off product. It isn’t like a regular coating where it has to flash and stays on for a period of time. I actually made the mistake of applying the old CanCoat like a traditional coating and I got quite the shoulder workout trying to remove it.

Huh? I wiped it on, waited a few min and wiped/buffed off…worked fine for me…..

Gyeon recommend using a microfiber applicator for when using Can Coat outdoors, so it can be applied without using the towel method.

This is how I applied Can Coat earlier this week, my first time using it. I hate getting towels all bundled up when doing these tasks, so I went with the microfiber brick/applicator instead.

Very pleased with how the car came up after application. Only problem now is that I want it on my own cars now! :D

Exactly… The microfiber brick is absolutely the way to go, I can’t stand using towels as an application , it’s far too inaccurate… IMO

Oh boy...it seems someone does not take the time to ready the directions hahaha.

But anyway,if that worked for you then no harm no foul. But dgage is correct. Wipe on wipe off, no waiting.

Well let’s put it this way… You wait a few minutes and you’re not gonna have a problem …..at least I didn’t. It came off just as easy as it went on.

But I am a huge believer in one panel at a time… Literally for almost everything…

I use a "brick" for all coatings. Best way for even distribution of product.

Jeff@GyeonUSA has said that Cancoat bonds to the paint instantly as soon it touches the surface. It should not be applied heavy like a standard ceramic coating where you would see a really wet layer because this means your using far too much product. Jeff says that you should "see a bit of a trail of the product...your not looking for this big layer that your gonna go back and wipe off...". Its wipe on, wipe off.

If waiting a few minutes works for some people then I guess that is ok as long as you know that it isn't improving its bonding capability, performance and durability. You can save 20-30 minutes of your time by just wiping it off immediately just as Gyeon recommends in their own instructions. :)

With Cancoat (or Cancoat EVO), would you have to completely remove your previous application (failing or start to fail) before applying new?

To avoid any over spray try using disposable eye droppers from Amazon. Liked them way better last time I used CC

So I gave this cancoat coating a go for a third time. This time I tried applying on the hood of a grey BMW , I polished the hoof, prep with eraser . I put some music on , got my microfiber towel , I had the car inside the garage , temperature was roughly 28 degrees C. I sprayed cancoat lightly on my microfiber towel and applied it on a small section of the hood, evenly pushing the product, grabbed a second towel to remove excess and I had a third plush towel to push more excess coating.
It took me a while but I finally went over the whole hood , applying the same method. Inside the garage the car look mint, no dark spots . I took the car outside , looked at it and i can see darker spots on some parts of the hood, tried to rub it off with a microfiber towel but the product wouldnt move. Parked the car inside again and I went over those spots with a little more product . I took the car outside again and it was much much better but still there 3 or 4 minor spots. Its hard to tell , you have to look from a different angle . Anyways I had to repeat this routine 4 times and I think I finally got it perfect on the hood.

Not going to lie , the car looks good , but this product is such a pain in the butt to apply. I think its the instant bond that makes it difficult . I did not have any issues applying GYEON pure true ceramic coating, the product was very very forgiven , even when I found a high spots , it was very easy to fix.

Maybe I have to use less product, which I thought I was, i did 2 sprays on my microfiber towel. But still its such a horrible product to work with , I much rather use car pro lite , its not as slick but it is very forgiven for correcting high spots and it spreads nicely

Anyways , needless to say , I m not using this product anymore. If anyone here lives in toronto , I ll give you the product for free . It ll probably end up in the garbage anyways. I ll much rather use gyeon pure or car pro lite than cancoat.
