Out of the lens options, here's what I got...

Lens = EFS 18-135mm

For my Canon I use following 3 lenses:

15-85mm
70-300mm VC Tamron
50 mm 1.8

Try bumping up the exposure compensation by a stop (+1)... the predominately white car is causing the camera to think it should underexpose the image slightly.... just a tip

That is a great "walkaround" lens. Useful for most everyday needs including video. For your needs I would recommend the "nifty fifty". It is a 50mm f1.8 lens. Great optics and only about $100. Great for portraits and some car photos. May not be quite wide enough for some car angles.

Your 18-135 has some wide angle ability and some zoom. You may eventually want a dedicated high quality wide angle for your car photos. For now, the 18-135 should do.

Yes that kit lens is a lot better than the 15-55 kit lens! My walkaround lens is the 24-105 L. love the L glass. But it's matter what u shoot and how much u want to spend!
I'm want to upgrade to full frame camera!

How come you guys havent moved to the mirrorless system? Or do you consider them to be EVIL?

Ive got the T3i/600D this year with 18-55 and 50mm prime and that serves my purpose of street photography and some architectural photography. But Id like to own the Beercan lens just to get some more reach when Im out shooting in nature

Sometimes I do feel dSLR is bulky especially when I go for rides, Im more worried about the vibrations of the bike damaging the cam in my tankbag. Riding makes me wish I had got the Sony RX100 P&S which is one hell of a camera.
If only I had some more spare cash

That's my kit too & I just picked up a Canon 70-200 f4 L .

Much good info here, investing in a brand 'system' because good glass holds its value.
