Can't Clean Glass Well...

Yeah I'd totally not know that technique if you hadn't pointed out it's on bottles I don't own.

:buffing:

You missed the important point: you *didn't* know that that technique was on the Meguiar's bottle. Thanks to my post, you know that now.

You are welcome! :D

I've always been picky with my windshield and glass ..... hating to see streaks or that interior smog like film that one gets inside of the windshield.

I just recently started using Stoner's Invisible Glass ( aerosol version ) and omg my life hasn't been so much easier. I simply spray a decent film and wipe with a mf towel and " taadaaa " a squeaky clean windshield yay :props: I'd recommend it to anyone to at least try once !!

Question for you guys:

in the morning I get up and i have water covering my windshield and back window and mirrors. So what should I use to get all the water off efficiently and get it try without getting streaks and etc all over?

I find the secret is to switch to a clean, dry wiping towel often.

I have been using Stoners for a couple months now and always had some streaks with it no matter what I tried. This might be my problem after all as I normally only use two towels. From now on I'll try using multiple drying towels and switch them often.

For what it's worth, I recently tried DP Krystal Vision and didn't have the same issues with streaks.

When you're done Obsessive Compulsively Detailing your windows, I guarantee a bug splat or bird crap within 1/4 mile.

You must not be cleaning windows that have been dirty for 6 months+ like some of my clients.

Windows that are cleaned regularly are a snap.

Yes, I am not a pig! If I were, i'd go around the car 3 or 4 times. Like Mike Phillips wrote, use plenty of clean towels.

\Personally, if I had to clean 6 months of grime I'd use 1 gallon of gasoline, a match and a phone call to my insurance agent. But hey, that's just me!Im the MAN

The only correct answer is:

A GARAGE.

Guys, thanks for all of the tips and great advice. I never thought this would turn into such a large thread.

Good points about washing towels separately, using many dry towels, and doing everything possible to not reintroduce contamination onto the glass-- I think wiping with a "contaminated" towel over and over again explains why I keep getting streaks.

However, remember that 95% of the time the glass looks fine. It's only under the "right" glare and sunlight can you finally see all of those nasty streaks.

What really annoys me is that I see guys at the local car wash clean windows with cheap bulk window cleaner and a few old, worn, dirty-looking shop rags and their windows turn out to be spotless. Just wish that I could be like them!

How is the condition of the actual glass in your window?
I have seen front windshields that were so pitted that it was impossible to make them look "clean". And windshield wipers would just leave streaks.
I have used a rotary polisher with 4 inch pads and glass polishing compound (it took almost five hours) and it has helped. But only replacing the windshield will return it to "like new"

Good question, my saturn's glass is in awful shape, but the Altima's windshield is brand-new and I still have the same problems. Strangely, the problems I have with glass cleaning are less severe on the Saturn.

Just sing this every morning for a month:

Ooh ooh
You might not ever get rich
But let me tell ya it's better than diggin' a ditch
There ain't no tellin' who you might meet
A movie star or maybe even an Indian chief
(Workin')
At the car wash
Workin' at the car wash, girl
Come on and sing it with me
(Car wash)
Sing it with the feelin' ya'all
(Car wash, girl)

Ooh!

Some of the work gets kinda hard
This ain't no place to be if you planned on bein' a star
Let me tell you it's always cool
And the boss don't mind sometimes if you act the fool

At the car wash
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Talkin' about the car wash, girl
Come on, ya'all and sing it for me
(Car wash)
Oooh oooh oooh
(Car wash, girl)

(Work and work)
Well, those cars never seem to stop coming
(Work and work)
Keep those rags and machines humming
(Work and work)
My fingers to the bone
(Work)
Can't wait till it's time to go home (?)

(Hey, get your car washed today)
Fill up and you don't have to pay
Come on and give us a play
(Do the wash, right away)

(The car wash)
Talkin' 'bout the car wash
Car wash, girl
Come on, ya'all, let's sing it with me
(Car wash)
Sing it with feelin', ya'all
(Car wash, girl)

Whoa whoa whoa whoa
(Car wash)
Never seem to stop comin'
What'd I say
Keep those rags and machines hummin'
(Car wash)
Let me tell you, it's always cool . . .
