Metro Racing Systems will be joining us again for Detail Fest 2008! For those of you that are not familiar with Metro, I will give you a little info. First they have a Racing Team that is owned by Stan Wattles for has spent a lot of time in the Indy Racing Leagues. They also repair, restore, maintain, fabricate and store all types of racing cars.
Metro Racing is located in Stuart, Florida in a large 10,800 square foot facility large enough to store their transporter. They have a complete fabrication shop. The team has over 100 years combined experience and is capable of complete restoration of any type race car.
A little history on Stan Wattles, Owner / Driver.
2001 Indy Racing Northern Lights Series Teamed with Indy Racing League Champion Buddy Lazier. Ran select IRL events, 11th at Atlanta, best finish.
2000 Indianapolis 500, starting third row. Held fastest race lap until teammate Buddy Lazier took the honors during the closing laps.
1999 Competed in select Indy Racing League events, finishing 24th at Orlando and 17th at the Indianapolis 500.
1998 Completed Indy 500 Rookie Orientation program. Made first Indianapolis 500 start, finishing 28th.
1997 His Indy Racing League team was the first "all-American" combination of Riley & Scott chassis, Aurora engine and Goodyear tires.
1996 Led two laps, finished 13th in inaugural Indy Racing League event at Orlando, driving for Leigh Miller Racing. Competed in Player's/ Toyota Atlantic Championship, with best finish fourth. Joined McCormack Motorsports for 1996-1997 Indy Racing League season, recording a best finish of eighth position at Las Vegas.
1995 Competed in the Player's/Toyota Atlantic Championship and received the Jovy Marcelo Sportsmanship Award. Recorded two top-five finishes in the IMSA World Sports Car Series. Won SCCA regional event.
1994 Won six of nine SCCA national starts in Formula Atlantic. Recorded eight poles in national competition and won the Valvoline Runoffs Championship from the pole at Mid-Ohio.
1993 Won two SCCA regional races in Formula 2000 series.
1988 Won two SCCA national races in 11 Formula Atlantic starts, 3rd at SCCA National Run-offs in Formula Atlantic.
1987 Made 10 SCCA national starts, winning the Formula Ford race at Watkins Glen. Finished second in IMSA 24-hour event at Watkins Glen.
Formed Metro Racing Systems to compete in club and pro events.
1986 Won Formula Ford race. Recorded three consecutive SCCA regional victories. Finished fifth in Escort 24 hours at Mid-Ohio and 12th in the World Cup Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch, England.
