Car got stuff on paint after getting a new roof installed

I had a guy call me today that just recently had a roof installed at work and his truck now has a black specks all over it. The man says it's like rubberized specks. I was thinking of using virgin solvent thinner to remove it then polish it. Has anyone had experience with this?

A guy I work with had a similar problem. After his roof was either re done or repaired he had black tar like dots all over it.
He used some WD40 and some OTC bug and tar remover

I do roofing and wd40 works great may have to wipe a couple times because it like to smear the asphalt be carefull cleaning could have some granules in the tar from the shingle
