Hello,

I am wondering what everyone’s method is for applying this for gloss. I have the car pro gloss pads.

thank you

I did mine with Griots boss yellow pads. The gloss pads i believe were made for essence if not ive read tge work brilliantly to finish. If wanting a little more cut I’ve read they work swell with Meg’s finishing MF pads.

Hello,

Thanks everyone for your replies. I was wondering what technique I should use to apply it.

The instructions for Essence seem very complicated. Using it like a normal polish works just fine. It’s super easy to wipe off and was a pleasure to work with.

Well what are you trying to achieve?

I am going to coat two three cars this year and wanted to know the best way to use as the final step before the coating. I just read that this has a shelf life of one year and I am well past that.

Depends on how it was stored. Shake it real well (several minutes) and look at the texture. If its separated and clumpy then toss it.

I just shook it up, it is nice and smooth and not clumpy. It has always been stored inside.

I think they put a shelf life of one year on this due to the SiO2 in the product. I have a bottle of the Essence+ and that one has gotten pretty hard in the bottle, like it cured somehow. I barely used it too, got like 2 hoods worth of product out of it :(
My Essence bottle is right around 1 year old and still liquid.

I had a CarPro rep tell me that if the bottle is kept indoors, dry, out of direct sunlight, yada, yada, it should last 2 years or more. I can confirm from personal experience that my own bottle worked fine after 14 months.

I like to apply with gloss pads, slow speed, only 2 passes (apply like a sealant) after I’ve polished down to an already good finish prior. This causes a potential extra step but guaranteed glossy as my eyes after happy hour.

You can use it as a finishing polish if you intend to compound or you can use it as a one step polish. Just be aware that it does not have the most cut.

You’re not missing much.

I personally had very good luck with it using a Meguiar's microfiber polishing pad.

When I gave it a go, I found this thread and #7 was very helpful (CarPro Essence Definitive Guide Thread [Archive] - Sky's the Limit Auto Detailing Discussion Forum)
-A little goes a long ways (after the pad was primed, I think I used two or three pea sized dots)
-Spread super fast on speed 1
-Raise speed to about 3-4 depending on machine
-Using minimal pressure (about a pound + weight of machine) use VERY slow arm movement across the section and go only one single pass.
-I wiped clean right away, but it said you could wait up to an hour
-After each panel, I would clean the pad before moving to the next (yes I used one pad for the whole car...)
