water + electronics = more than a simple forum diagnostic can fix..
 
Im 2 years younger than an adult, not a kid. I dont know whos fault it was, but it looks like a lot of money to fix

Sorry about issues with the Audi Bill, hopefully this post goes better than the tire or bumper thread does. Maybe that place where you bought those Michelin's from can help you. I should say this, be advised that the code reader isn't made in Merica, just sayin';-)

I'm very disappointed in some of the replys on this thread. I thought AGO was people helping people. Bill1234 I hope you find what's wrong with your car and get it fixed at a reasonable cost. TLDR:shut windows BEFORE it starts to downpour
 
maybe I was harsh, but really, you came on here asking "why my transmission is slow and i have a check engine light", first, and not "hey, i left my windows open in a downpour on accident - any recommended advice on what might be wrong?"

Maybe I've been in 110degree weather too Long today, but don't need codes? You lost me, if the seat has water. GET it out ASAP! Mold WILL grow... If not, you have two problems On your hands. Have a shop Vac? Suck up as much water. Reason i bring this up is, some guy dropped three gallons of water on his back seat in his truck. Doesn't notice, a week goes by, WHOLe back seat has black mold, around the back seat, carpet on floor, and it started to creep up the front seats. I had to strip the whole interior to the metal... Back seat was thrown away..

If the electronics are crapped, I would look at junk yards. You can save a ton. Good luck Bill!
 
I already have taken it in to a reputable mechanic. They took the carpet out and put it in the hot sun to let it dry. They are then seeing if the electronics will dry out too, if they do, then I will be on my way. If they dont, I will need a new computer and a new transmission speed sensor i think. Is 1200 dollars right for a repair like this ?
 
For the pricing do try the Audi forums and go to your local sub forum and check there, they may be able to give you a better idea locally. On the computer, was it a sealed box, did water come running out when removed? Try getting a big bowl put the tranny logic unit in the bowl and fill with rice, let it set over night. That will absorb some of the moisture, if not do scour local or internet junk yards for the part could save a ton.
 
I cant go to the junk yard to do the repair, the mechanic has to, he is ordering the parts, I will have to see about the computer problem
 
Does the car have a sunroof? Audi/VW commonly have a problem with the drains getting blocked up and water getting into the car. If it is the transmission control module I do believe it will have to be re-programmed to the vehicle in which proper equipment is required.

No, that's way off...the GM cars before OBD I, from, um...'81? had CCC (Computer Command Control). When the check engine light came on, you could short out two pins in the ALDC (Assembly Line Diagnostic Connector, forerunner of OBD) and the MIL would blink out the trouble code. Later I bought a little tool that had different pins/sockets on different sides for doing the same thing on GM, Ford and Chrysler cars.

PS While looking up when GM started with CCC, I apparently am senile enough to have misremembered the acronym, Wikipedia says it was ALDL (Assembly Line Diagnostic Link).
 
I don't think it would hurt anything to disconnect the battery and leave it off for a while and then reconnect it, while everything is drying out, just a thought.

Dont ever pay anyone to switch out a computer, it is plug and play. You could have saved a bunch of money. Anyone under 25 is still a kid. Good luck.
