Car wash soap

i have used the NXT wash for a while, and after i read some where here at the forum that it takes the gloss away from the finish, i noticed (i belived it was the shampo at the car wash) After i wash with the NXT i refresh the paint with CK QD, that brings the gloss back.

I have not heard that it takes the protection away, but it leaves the finish kinda dull.

I have DuraGloss and poorboys limited edit on its way from AG, cant wait to try em out

I actually seeing it leave a glossy finish! It has polymers similar to a no rinse wash that aid in drying. Stopping water spots that is. To me, it leaves the finish slick and clean.

The slicknes is gone on my car after NXT wash, but it can be the soap at the wash bay (the owner said it was very gentel, and no harm to either polish or wax). Just another reason to use the QD from ClearKote

No doubt about that it cleans well.

What is the best soap to use for the foam gun? Duragloss is cheap and I have been hearing it is good and soft on paint and wax. Should I go with that for my own cars? NXT I've heard is stronger, and will that work well in a foam gun to wash my client's cars? Thank you all for your time and help! 128 ounces = 1 gallon right?

yes 128 oz is 1 gallon (an american gallon, not the larger, older canadian ones hee hee), i dont use a foam gun but im sure any soap, mixed properly would work well. I know dp offers a soap just for the gun.

As fro claying, this will make a HUGE diffrenece. I dont mean to be a jerk but i think its time you start searching and reading some articles.

will have some awsome info, it is put toghter by jngrbrdman, a well respected memeber of many forums. do i agree with all of it, no, however the basics are there and will have a ton of info.
I really dont post it to be a jerk, but from the sounds of it you have a desire to learn so im just trying to point you in the right direction, these threads help. But i have found (in trying everything i can get my hadnds on,,, ask around lol) that the only way to get info on products are to try it. every person is diffrent, i like alot of products that people dont, yet i like alot people do.
again.. just trying to poit you in the right direction

Does claying really make a difference? Because when you polish a car, surface contaminants are lifted. Is that correct?

You would be amazed!! It is something you gotta try, Luke!
Also, Zip car wash - toss it. Nasty.

AG does not sell the QD from ClearKote.... I wanted to try it...:(
Time to move on!
Lol

I have done claying on my car. If I am correct, you can only use a clay bar on like 3 cars and then you have to toss it? It is like 20$ per too.

Yea, you can't use them on more than that ...sometimes not even that many...Now I buy 95% of my stuff here on AG, but for our beater I picked up ClayMagic in AZ for $10 - lube and clay. Can't beat it.
I use Pinnacle on the vette tho.
There really is not much difference....

Clay lube is the same thing as like the quick detailers that enhance the wax right? Thank you so much for your help!

Yes, it is. I am glad I could help you! Let us know what you think after you have clayed!!

I have recently clayed my car lol, I will try it on my chrome rims though. Do rims go on sale during spring? I'm getting 20's (that's all I can fit without raising my Ford Explorer) this spring. I am also getting 15% tint, its going to be AWESOME! Wait, 25%, ill have to check. By the way, should I purchase an applicator for my clay or is it easier without it? Do quick detailers help a lot? Thank you in advance, wow I love you guys.:D:D:D:D:D:D

there is no set number of time you can use clay, its good till its all exaushted, i have done a car that has taken 2 bars, and some that did nothing to the clay.
As for the applicator it is easier to do it by hand. you get a beter idea of the paint, its condition, and you can also tell better when it need to be kneeded.
Im confused about the qucik detail question,

If you are using it as a clay lube, i would say yes. You can also use car soap but it causes the clay to break down more then with a quick detailer.

As for the inehsing gloss, that depends on the lube. I would only use a QD is there is a lite dusting, any dirt i would stay away from it and go with a waterless wash, or a regular wash

How do you know when the clay bar is ready to throw in the trash?

You will know...you can get a clean spot or it is not pickingup any more - no more grab.
Or,if you drop it!!

Will I be able to see debris in the clay?

Yes. The clay will turn darker, from the dirt. I will edit with a link to some members DIRTY clay..

If it turns about that dark, should I toss it? And could it scratch the paint?

You could try and re-shape it, but if its still that dirty after you re-shape it;

Yes, and Yes.

So it COULD stratch the paint? =O
