Car Wash to Strip Wax/Product From Car Paint Surface?

What car wash do you folks receommend for removing old finishes from car surfaces? Dawn is recommended many times, but I have seen some recent posts that indicate it's bad for the paint & there are better, car specific, products.

What would you recommend?

Would appreciate the feedback about alternative choices, or any other opinions about the viability of using Dawn Dishwashing Detergent.

curious on this aswell, also how do you know if your supposed to take the previous stuff off. I know my car was last detailed by a proffessional detailer from the previous owner about a year ago, I wonder if I can just use a paint cleaner by hand application after claying it.
 
Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss 2:1 Ratio to strip any wax , or 1:2 to use as a normal wash
 
I use 1.5 oz of ## CWClear and 1 oz of ## Strong Wash. It will strip just about anything. Squeeky clean afterwards.
 
have you ever tried washing as normal then applying a apc with a microfiber and rinsing thouroughly. i use dp cleanse all exterior cleaner or optimum power cleanse with great results.
 
I've actually used in my foam gun (I'm sure it would work in a 2 bucket wash too), a solution of car wash soap, and then a teaspoon of Simple Green or another APC that has already been mixed at 30:1 (water:SG). It stripped the 10 layers of wax off the car like it had never been there!
 
You can use an ISO wipe, you can use a paint cleaner, or you can polish. All work well. Griots makes a product called paint prep which also could be used.
 
what if you do for example a regular meguiars gold wash with clay bar, if you dont strip the previous stuff off what will happen when you wax it

some suggest older waxes can yellow and degrade the look of a finish if not removed. A clay bar is actually abrasive and likely removes some or most of a wax anyhoo. Using a polish or paint cleanser afterwards just assures the finish is stripped and ready for sealant or wax or chose. Its super clean ... :D
