Geeks... ASSEMBLE! Lol. I have a question. I have a car scheduled for an exterior detail and paint correction on Saturday. It's a black BMW. The problem that i'm running into is that the roof, hood and trunk lid are covered with a fake CF vinyl. It's not permanent, but the owners are wanting it removed. I know i'm going to have to take it off to keep the compounds off of it, but is there a way to clean it?
Feed back please

The picture attached is not the car, but it's the same thing on the trunk!

try water and car soap ,matte detailer, or a trim cleaner now if that fails go for the peanut butter for you last hope

Haha. I figured a QD would work or just a basic cleaner. I was just curious. Imma assume the Peanut Butter is a joke. Lol

I have carbon fiber on my roof. I just like using V7 on it since its worked best for me. But apart from that I'd just clean it like normal, no need for matte detaile sprays.

peanut butter yeah kinda a joke but in this case if compound from polishing gets on carbon fiber from splatter or anything you can use peanut butter to remove it out of the little weave threads.

Best way to clean anything matte is to wipe it down with Sikkens M600.

M600 is a gentle solvent body shops use to prep surface for paint.

You buy it at most body shops (phone around, quite a few stock it - very common)

I have been using this stuff on matte finish cars for a while (trick I picked up from one of the detailing kings). It obliterates tar and grime, while not breaking down the vinyl (can even use it on stained leather)

After this I recommend coating it with a paint sealant (pretty much any will do). You can use a wax, but make sure it is a pure one (no fillers in it). If not sure, test it under the hood, 99% of cars have flat paint under there (all bmw's do)

good luck! :)

Why do you want to clean it if the customer wants it removed anyway?

APC works good since CF its a textured vinyl. You can use your fav exterior dressing to protect it and shine it up, but I recommend stuff that dries well and not sticky.
