Carpet cleaning technique

I just spray with upholstry cleaner that I get from work , brush and wipe with a towel. I do have a hot water extraction machine , but I only use it on very dirty carpets.

I just spent 2 days doing a thorough interior detail on my car. I still hadn't gotten it back to normal from the body shop. I just had too much going on and not enough time to really get in there and tackle it. I used my Hoover steam vac and the upholstery shampoo that comes with it on the carpets and upholstery and floor mats and when I got around to the cargo area and I was vacuuming I saw grease on the backs of the rear seats!! I almost freaked out because I could just picture those body shop guys climbed into the cargo area of my car with their dirty shoes on and leaving all that greasy muck on the backs of my seats. There were also grease spots on the carpet in the cargo area as well. I used my Hoover steam vac, but it wasn't strong enough to get out the grease. So I went into the house and got out the OXY Clean. I mixed a little of the powder in with some water to make a sort of paste and applied it with a toothbrush on the grease spots. Then I used my Hoover steam vac again and Presto!! The grease stains were gone and my carpet looked like new again. :)

Dang, I really rattled on there!! What was the question again??

Haha, I was waiting for a response from you too, thanks a lot... Just kidding, glad you got those spots out. Thats exactly why no one works on my car except me.

But anyways, youll have to read my last two posts, 19 and 20 (bottom of page 2). Thanks...

I just read them. All I can say is I really like my Hoover Steam vac. I've had it for years and use it to shampoo the carpets and rugs in my house and also in the car. The carpet/upholstery detergent that comes with it is not soapy at all and for the car I use the upholstery attachement and it sprays the detergent/water mix onto the carpet and the bristles work it in then I pass over it without spraying the solution and it sucks up the water. My carpets and upholstery were completely dry to the touch in like 30 minutes after I used it. It leaves the seats and carpets like new and the fibers don't have any kind of stiffness or anything like that. Just clean. :)

Thank you. It seems like the Turtle Wax stuff leaves the carpet soft and not rough or sticky like the other stuff. So Ill just keep with that for now.
