So I guess I'm having a little dilemna right now about why auto detailers scrub carpets and yet everyone always suggests blotting your carpet at home and that scrubbing is horrible for stains.

I mean, I know there's an obvious difference in auto and floor carpeting, but...why don't we blot stuff in our cars?

I also find it odd that they say don't scrub and yet, many professional carpet cleaners scrub and so do all the DIY machines (RugDoctor for example).

I guess I never really thought about this until I spilled Kool-Aid all over our carpets and looked for the best ways to clean.

Try blotting and see for yourself. Although, there are certain stains you should blot like ink removal and what not. You only should blot in homes because the carpet in homes tend to have their fibers stressed very easily if you scrub, while on the other hand.... the carpet in auto is scrub friendly.

Check with Jondon.com good carpet supply house,

Depends on the stain sometimes scrubbing just spreads it, blotting tends to lift it off, we use a Mytee Stinger, and a Roto Vac head,
