Hey everyone,
I've got a detail coming up for a friend of a friend. I'm not a professional by any means, but I do good work when it comes to the basics. This detail is a minivan and there seems to be a lot of staining in the carpets only. (Leather seats thank god). It looks like coffee and soda. Nothing else really.

Please offer me some OVER THE COUNTER products I could use that would be effective. I don't have time to order things online. I have resolve, which seems to work well for new stains. I also have a Bissel "spot bot"? That will vacuum up the moisture. It's small. It works well. Any suggestions for products or techniques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Harrison.

I would suggest folex and a carpet brush. Both could be found at Lowe's or a home improvement store of the like.

Thanks. I've actually seen that name a lot on this forum. People seem to like it. I'll give it a shot

I have had decent luck with Blue Coral and it can be found at Target stores.

I'll have to check it out. I have a DA from them since I rarely use it. But it works like a dream. I'm interested to see the steam cleaner in action

All mentioned above. Do you have a home carpet shampooer with heat? Its what I use to basically extract deep stains and remove the cleaner.

Other than the spot bot thing from Bissel, no. But that is a small home use type thing, but believe it or not, it works.

Does blue coral dry on its own? Or does it need to be vacuumed out? Thanks for the suggestion

It does dry pretty well. It is not moisture heavy. I let it sit agitate and then blot with a clean microfiber towel. I usually follow that up with a final vacuum before considering it done.

Awesome. I'm going to get both. Sounds like I can't go wrong with either.

Get folex for the spots. Then you can use a dry foam in the aerosol can to shampoo the whole carpet. Agitate. Dry vac. Use your spot bot if it feels "sticky"

So this carpet looks pretty soiled in certain areas. How long can I expect to be cleaning the carpet? Is 2 hours a good estimate?

how long to expect? it depends on the soil llevel and how clean you want them.

for instance, I just spent 2 hours this morning spray treating, vacuuming, apc'ing, folexing, Resolving, scrubbing with a DA, hosing off, and vacuum extracting 6 floormats. FLOORMATS!... :)

so, how clean do you want to get them? :)

edit: two still need deeper cleaning (2 driver mats)

For spots/stains i will also suggest Folex. That stuff is phenomenal and has served me well for quite a few years.

I've looked at lowes and Home Depot for folex and have not seen it anywhere. I must be looking in the wrong spot.

Never heard of this product before I got on AGO but after all the positive remarks about it I bought some and can't believe how good it is. :xyxthumbs:

I found it in the carpet section at Lowe's. HTH.
