Hi,

I clayed and polished my 03' altima (first time in years) and after two passes with the clay bar the hood/roof/trunk were not completely smooth (could have gone once or twice more). Each pass still showed a lot of contaminants on the bar.

I read where some use Iron X to prior to claying a car because it dissolves a lot of the contaminates making it so much easier for claying afterwards.

Can I likewise use chemical guys diablo wheel cleaner for the same purpose? Thought I'd ask since I already have a bottle of this.

Thanks in advance.

I've been known to use several, said to be:
dedicated "wheel cleaners" on BC/CC paint
systems for decontamination purposes
(but none from CGs).

To quote CGs' product description of Diablo:

"Diablo is the only pH neutral wheel cleaner
safe enough to use on

any and all OEM, after market wheels, painted
and powder coated wheels, chrome, carbon fiber lips,
decal wrapped wheels and lips and virtually all painted surfaces.

Diablo's suspension technology is oxygen-rich infused. Concentrated suspension technology encapsulates dirt particles and rapidly lifts them away from the paint...

NOTEs:
-Take the above with a grain of salt
-Use you own judgement
-Always "test spot"

Chemical guys diablo emulsify surface dirt within wheels, and or sometimes suspensions or in your case the paint work it won't work the same as iron x where it dissolves embedded particles like iron nor like clay where it shaves the left over embedded particles until smooth, that said one may have a better chance at getting a clay sponge, mitt, towel and saturating each panel until you achieve the smoothness level you desire.........just my theory

If I were you I'd use a Med. Grade Speedy Prep Towel. Works soo much faster than a regular claybar on super contaminated paint.
