Just received a 4L of CarPro TRIX

Upon inspection, half of the bottle has a light purple color to it. I thought the product was clear.

The half liter size come in a dark colored spray bottle. so you can't actually see the true color of the product.

I'm wondering if my TRIX has 'spoiled' or interacted with something which triggered some of the active ingredients. It looks like the product settled, with 50% of it turning purple

worth noting the box it arrived in STUNK. Like badly. Couldn't even keep the box in my apartment (even after I removed the 4L of TRIX and put it in my truck bed). I've ordered the big boy size of IronX in the past with no funny smell. So maybe some air was getting in / out of the jug

any info appreciated. Thanks

I believe trix has to be thoroughly shaken before use. Most iron removers stink to high heaven. I might be wrong but it doesn't sound like there is a problem.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using AG Online

Same thing happened to my liter size TRIX
When i first bought it it was completely clear, after a year even a brand new bottle never been opened, there was this purple color tint within the product.

I contacted Corey, which he told me is still fine to be used. But maybe u should speak to him personally and see what happens since yours is 4L
But i do agree, that most likely the product reacted with something and activated the Iron removal properties

I just shot Corey a message

checked the AG page and actually the 4L bottle they show does have a purple tinge in the bottom half

I've actually been on the fence about ordering this stuff. Don't know much about it and was wondering when do most of you guys use this stuff? About a week ago I did a customers escalade with chrome wheels and they just didn't come out like I would have liked. He said he hadn't cleaned the wheels in two months. There was some stubborn brake dust build up that would budge with apc and wheels brush. I've been on a mission for a really good wheel cleaner. Your guys feedback would be really appreciated.

I used trix for the first time today. It worked very well, but WOW the smell is almost skunk like! The smaller bottles shipped sealed in a plastic, and as soon as I opened the plastic I could smell it, and that's without any leaks!

I use it. Its very effective. I like it gets rid of tar and wax at the same time. Its a two component product, so you have to shake it very well. Some of Trix in action:

I agree. The effectiveness of Trix is great and not only does it work with wheels it safe to use on the paint and makes far removal a breeze. I just got a liter last order and I will be using this a lot.

Hi Guys

no problem with the color change inside the bottle . its still very effective, unless its changed to deep dark purple.
please dont smell it from the bottle, the harsh smell is the active ingredient character. cant do much about it.

thanks for the reply.

I also heard from ceedog who basically told me the same

So I can't huff TRIX? Guess its back to sniffing ONR and Fuzion as needed :xyxthumbs:

I ordered my 600ml bottle of TRIX this winter when there was some kind of special going on. OMG this stuff says on the bottle it is PH balanced and has a pleasant smell of lemon. NO WAY! This stuff smelled to high heaven. Ever passed the beauty shop at the mall when they are doing 20 perms at the same time? It smelled twice as bad. PH balanced? OK, you showed me a meter in the video on the web site. But the fumes about knocked me out.
But, having said all that, I LOVE THIS STUFF!! It took off years of brake dust and tar crud on my Mustang wheels. I bought my 'stang 6 years old. I don't think the wheels were ever detailed. Except for some pitting from the salt they use on the streets in the winter around here, everything else came clean as new! I can't wait to use it other places on the car. Oh, I need to order more, my neighbor stole my bottle, smelled it 2 doors down, came to see what I was doing and decided he wanted to try it, and won't give it back now. Oh well, it was about empty anyway.

I love the product too. But find the smell is harsh as you said. even compared to ironX which is no walk in the park either.

I saw the pH meter test... with between 50 and 70% solvent content (from the MSDS), it is very likely that 'pH' is not definable for a product of this type. pH is a measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions in aqueous conditions (i.e. water). Clearly with as much as 70% solvent and then other actives, this is not a water based product. You can get a reading, sure, but it wont be the pH because a product like this can no more have a pH than a man can be pregnant. More than that, anyone putting a pH meter into a strong solvent blend (non-aquous) needs to be aware that this is something specifically recommended against by almost every pH probe manufacturer - the probes are not designed to stand up to this and it can permanently compromise performance, so you will need to make sure to go through a full recalibration after doing it or any subsequent measurements will be suspect.
