cell phone canceled

We pay right around 200 for four phones. We have minimum for minutes, unlimited texting on all of them, 200 megs data on one and 2 gigs on another.

I agree that tech is just crazy. Had all of the gizmos with all the bells and whistles. No more. (Saw a commercial on my rabbit-ear- antenna-equipped TV depicting the guy who bought the 3D TV only to see an advertisement for the 'new 4D TV'). YIKES!
A person just can't seem to keep up--costs too much IMO).

Progress, to me, could of ended with the 'invention' of Frozen Pizza and I would have been a happy camper! :) For the record our cell phones are the ones with the big buttons---no service plan, and $10.00/mo.; and, I have dial-up (free) for my internet service. Yet, I'm still surviving, albeit by the skin of my teeth:laughing:
 
With 4 dollar gas here and 5 dollar gas likely before years end, alot of cutbacks will be necessary for most. I think cell phones would be a great idea, and actually curse their invention. Never a moments rest !
 
My fiance and I have 3 cell phones (2 droids for personal use and one flip phone for his business) and we pay around $175 a month with Verizon for 1400 minutes, unlimited texting and internet.

I'm at the age where I didn't grow up with cell phones, but I still can't imagine going back to not having one. I feel more prepared when I have one. As long as there is service, no matter where I am, I can always get in touch with someone should there be an emergency. Not to mention playing with a smart phone is a great way to pass time when you are waiting for someone or something...
 
I have not had a cell phone for years. It is really nice nobody to bother you when you leave the house.Im the MAN
 
110/month for 1,000 minutes, unlimited text, and unlimited data on Verizon on a Droid. Looking to get the Thunderbolt 4g or Moto's new dual core phone (if it ever comes out)

I actually work for a cell phone company, and I can honestly say having a smartphone is just an amazing thing, but it can easily control you, instead of it just being a tool. I've stayed clear of the serious addiction by just not allowing myself to download games, as this is the big killer, and leave gaming for when I am at home. Even without games, I can not tell you how handy it is being able to search Google for everything, getting and handling emails, listening to radio stations, reading news feeds, movie showtimes, handling netflix account, easy way to keep track of memos, manage bank account. It is a great tool; I have a blackberry as a personal phone. My work phone, an Android, stays at home, turned off for days on end except for when I want to check out a cool new app to keep in touch with the industry.

Perfect example of how handy a smartphone is when used properly, is just today I was with my dad and we needed the phone number, and address for two places. Looked up on Google for the addresses and numbers, and was easily able to find both places (used tire shop and lawn mower shop). Then when we got to my grandmas house (no internet access), we worked on the mower, only to need to know what gap the spark plug needed to be, so again, broke out the phone and found out. I then got a BBM with a picture from a co-worker with an update from our Blackberry rep on the Playbook coming out, and was able to keep in contact. All in all, I used about 3 minutes of phone calls the whole day, and spent less then maybe 10 minutes on the phone in the past 8 hours and was able to get all those accomplished. Again, using as a tool and not letting the tool control you.

For those not interested in that at all, there is then the simple flip phones, but to me I don't care much for talking on the phone; I'd rather just get the information quickly and go (ie: Google search, text, BBM). That way I can actually enjoy the conversation I am having with the person sitting right in front of me.
 
Get a pre-paid phone so you will have one when you need it

Im on an emergancy plan for only 15.00 a month with verizon. They dont even offer that plan anymore .
I never give my number out .....I really hate being bothered while Im working or driving.
 
now the internet, guilty as charged. i would die without it! :laughing:

i was talking to a few co workers yesterday. and quite a few are having tough times. alot mentioned cable/tv service is next on the list when its crunch time.

Everyone has their own preferences, but I wouldn't have dial-up internet if they paid me. There's a big difference between 56K(or whatever it is nowadays) and 20Mbs.
